Rental Notes: The Dordogne departement is part of the larger Aquitaine region; once the preserve of English Kings in the 13th and 14th centuries. The local area was a central part of the 100 years war, and the Castles of Castlenaud (English stronghold) and Beynac (French stronghold) stand opposite each other high above the Dordogne river, and only a few miles from the house.
Canoeing, horse riding, swimming, walking cycling, tennis are all activities that can be pursued in the locality. For walkers, the French GR64 passes the front door, and enables a very pleasant walk to Castlenaud. Within the area there are many historical chateaux (Castlenaud, Beynac, Les Milandes, etc) and the "bastide" town of Domme, plus the caves at Les Eyzies and museums of pre-historic life in the Region.
