Local activities in and around Mojacar, Almeria
The apartment is perfectly situated for all the local ameneties, bars, shops and restaurants, as well as horse riding and scuba diving schools, beautiful Blue Flag beaches (cleaned every day throughout the summer) water sports and beach sports(volleyball). A beautiful palm tree-lined sea-front promenade (with adjacent cycle/running track) commences approx 100m from the property, (where there is also a kiddies play area)extending two kms to the southern end of the playa. The beaches on this section have been planted with 'Palm Tree Oases'. A family-run local supermarket(100m from the property) remains open until 8.30pm every evening, from where almost everything can be purchased. The area is within a few minutes drive of several golf courses, and the renowned Desert Springs course is within 25 mins drive. The fabulous Playa Macenas course is scheduled to open later in 2007, and is 10 mins drive away. The lovely 'sugar cube' dwellings, narrow streets and restaurants and boutiques of Mojacar Pueblo nestle in the hills only 10 mins by car or a little longer by the regular bus service, which also runs up and down the Playa. The charming Parque Comercial, just a few minutes by car, and slightly longer by foot, has all other amenities for both commercial and tourist requirements. The National Park, Cabo de Gata, and Agua Amarga, is within easy reach, as is the spectacular coastal drive to Carboneras. The moorish village of Cabrera in the foothills of the sierra cabrera, with its multi-coloured house domes and restaurants, hints at the moorish influence from history on the area. For the children, visits to the Vera Water Park and Western 'Cowboy Town' near Tabernas are a 'must'. Vera (15 mins) also boasts a spectacular Bull Ring with regular performances. Die-hard shoppers will find the local markets hard to resist! The many 'cave houses' in the Cuevas region are within easy reach and well worth a visit.
The apartment is situated in Oasis del Mar II bordering the Calle Allegria, approx 75m off the Paseo Mediterraneo at Cueva del Lobo. From Almeria Airport exit 520(Mojacar) from E15 motorway(35 mins).
