The Hayloft is a beautifully converted threshing barn in the stunning Cartmel Penninsula, between the southern edge of the Lake District and Morecambe Bay. It is located in the pretty village of Allithwaite, within 2 miles of picturesque Cartmel and the Edwardian seaside resort, Grange-over-Sands.

The cottage combines limestone walls, oak beams and high quality local materials with soft furnishings from Laura Ashley and Sanderson. It sleeps 7+2 and features a luxury four-poster bed, Jacuzzi bathroom, shower room, hand-crafted kitchen and upstairs galleried lounge to take in the views towards Morecambe Bay.
The Hayloft comfortably accommodates 7 (a sofa bed is also available in the galleried lounge) in a sumptuous ground floor four-poster double bedroom, a lovely upstairs double bedroom and child-friendly triple sleeper room with 4ft double and 3ft single bunk. There are 2 bathrooms; one features a Jacuzzi corner bath and a downstairs shower room with wider pentangle shower enclosure and power shower. Fluffy towels and linen are included.
The kitchen is handcrafted in oak with black granite worktops and features an integrated fridge and dishwasher with induction hob and electric fan oven. A farmhouse table seats 8 and has a CD player and TV/DVD player. Adjacent is a garden room with glass walls and gas central heating, looking out onto an enclosed garden with pergola, lawn and borders and patio furniture with a BBQ.
The oak and iron-effect bespoke staircase leads to a galleried lounge with window seats looking out towards Morecambe Bay. There is a gas woodburner-style stove, Freeview TV with DVD player and sofa bed. The house is child-friendly with removeable stair gates, travel cot, loo seat and high chair.
Outside, the old stable is converted into a games room with full-size table tennis table and darts and also into a laundry room with washing machine and tumble drier.
The Hayloft has obtained a high four star (we turned down five) rating from Visit Britain in its first season.

Bedrooms:
2 Double Bedrooms, 1 Family Bedroom. There is a sumptuous four-poster room on the groundfloor and adjacent to a shower room to ease mobility. Kids love the triple sleeper. A sofa bed with linen is also located in the upstairs lounge.

1 Bathroom, 1 Shower. There is a combi-boiler giving instantaneous hot water and heated towel rails. Fluffy towels are included. There is plenty of room for family bathtime.
Kitchen:
Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Iron. The kitchen features a high quality DeDietrich induction hob, electric fan oven and dishwasher. It is extremely well equipped and a pleasure to use.
General:
Central Heating, House Linen, Towels Provided. All towels and bed linen are included in the rate. The lounge features a gas wood-burner style stove, giving the look of a real fire without the hassle!
Dining:
Seating for 9. There are 9 chairs and plenty of crockery if required. The farmhouse kitchen table forms the hub of the house.
Entertainment:
Terrestrial TV, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games, Table Tennis. There is a TV/DVD player in the kitchen/dining room and a Freeview TV and DVD player in the upstairs lounge. The old stable features a games room with full-size table tennis table and darts board.

Garden, BBQ, Parking, Garden Furniture. The garden is beautiful and features a lawn, borders, pergola and paved areas with plenty of hardwood garden furniture, parasol and BBQ.

The Hayloft features a downstairs bedroom, shower room, garden room sitting room and a kitchen dining room so it is suitable for those with impaired mobility. Pets are charged at £10 per week.
Local activities in and around Grange over Sands, North
The Hayloft is located in the pretty village of Allithwaite on the stunning Cartmel Peninsula, south of the Lake District. It is only 8 miles from Lake Windermere and within minutes of the National Park boundary.
The Cartmel Peninsula is beautiful and quiet in comparison to the central Lakes. Cartmel and its Priory, one of Cumbria's most picturesque villages, and the Edwardian seaside resort of Grange-over-Sands, with mile-long promenade, ornamental gardens and tea-rooms are less than 2 miles from The Hayloft. Also with minutes are renowned Holker Hall and Morecambe Bay, which is seen from the upstairs lounge.
The Cartmel Peninsula boasts amazing countryside with networks of paths and cycle ways including the Cumbria Coastal Way which passes near the door. There is a pub with open fire within 2 minutes and another in the village and locally you will find everything from a michelin-starred restaurant to fish and chips, from an Italian restaurant to high quality Indian cuisine.
The South Lakes towns of Bowness-on-Windermere, Kendal, Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness are easily reached within 25 minutes and offer many cultural and shopping opportunites. The Lake District fells are seen from the village and are close by, offering endless opportunities for boat trips, walking, climbing and sight-seeing.
On the Cartmel Peninsula, there are opportunities for riding, golf, quad biking, swimming and even parachuting.
The Hayloft features lots of information on things to do and see locally and within the whole of Cumbria - you will need to return several times to experience it all!
Leave the M6 at Junction 36 for A591, take the 1st exit signed A590 and then B5277 to Grange, passing The Pheasant Inn in Allithwaite. Detailed instructions are given on booking.

Short breaks: Last minute short breaks may be booked with 1 week only of the Holiday Start Date in the Low Season or at other times in agreement with the owner.
