Detached cottage with private pool and four acres of grounds. located in a small hamlet surrounded by gently rolling countryside. Quiet but not isolated. Lovely local walks start right outside the cottage and take you through country lanes, woodland and along high ridgeways with wonderful local scenery.
The cottage dates from the 16th century and is constructed from local stone in typical charentaise style. Heavy French oak beams run through the property. The sitting room has terracota floor tiles and a huge inglenook fireplace in working order and is used throughout the winter months. The cottage has gas heating for winter visiters.
The dining room is large with oak wooden floor and heavy beamed ceiling.
The kitchen was replaced in 2006 and is fitted with white units and wooden worktop. Dishwasher. fitted oven, halogen hob, washing machine,fridge/freezer and microwave included. The kitchen opens to the garden and is ideal for sunny breakfast.
The cottage is at the end of a quiet lane which leads only to our property and outbuildings. The surrounding coutryside is woodland,meadow and farmland. During the summer months fields of sun flowers set the countryside ablaze with yellow.
Local wildlife such as red squirrel, birds of prey, and owls can be seen.
The garden is South facing and consists of large lanwned areas with shaded spots under our massif walnut tree and various fruit tress such as apple,pear cherry and plum. You are free to help yourself to ripe fruit.
The pool was constructed in the spring of 2006 and sits in a sunny part of the garden with shade from fruit trees available. The pool measures 8 x 4 m and has a depth of 1 to 1 and a half m. The pool is fitted with a safety alarm which is self activating and will sound if an object weighing more than a kilo falls into the pool. The alarm can be deactivated when swimming begins and will self activate if no movement is felt in the pool after three minutes. The alarm conforms to French pool safety requirements.
Summer and winter pool cover,underwater light and a salt water cleaning system along with a kreepy krawly vac/brush cleaner. The garden has a brick BBQ with plenty of garden furniture for outdoor eating.

You can fly to Limoges/Poitiers/La Rochell/Bordeux/Bergerac.
Ferry ports Cherbourg/Caan/St Malo.
Channel Tunnel
Eurostar to poitiers then local train to st Saviol or Ruffec.
