Sunny seaside home, very well equipped, for indoor and outdoor living, including an outdoor dining room. It's built as close to the ocean as permitted, with private villas on either side, and nothing between you and the sea in front. Murdeira is the in-place to live on Sal - a mature west facing resort with hotel, restaurant, tropical plants, swimming pool, tennis, gym, bar, beaches. Tranquil surroundings with air and space, yet only 10 minutes from tourist town of Santa Maria, or capital Espargos. Cleverly designed for the tropics with environmental cooling.
We rented this ourselves before we bought. With the ocean in front, it has direct sea views from the sitting room, kitchen sink, front verandah, roof terrace, shaded outdoor dining area and the end of your bed. With windows on three sides, there's lots of light to enjoy being indoors too.
There is a small beach within about 80 metres, for swimming and snorkelling, sunbathing or picnic. You will most times find you are the only people there. The whole resort has security, and you can wander around freely, day or night, and just enjoy the simple things in life at the ocean's edge.
A comprehensive inventory is available upon request, and we have added a huge number of items to make the difference between a standard stark holiday rental, and a comfortable home by the sea. In December 2007 we shipped a container of furniture, fittings and decorations. The owners have been letting property in the UK and overseas for over twenty five years, and travel regularly to all the Cape Verde Islands.

1 Bathroom, 1 Shower. Bath 1, ground floor, between bedrooms. Bath 2, first floor off principal bedroom, with washing machine. Both have shower, basin, WC and are fully tiled.

Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer, Washing Machine, Iron. Kettle, toaster, electric grill (use indoors or out), cafetiere, coffee maker, food liquidiser, electric fruit squeezer. Denby crockery set. Picnic crockery. Stainless barbecue with lid.

Maid Service, House Linen, Towels Provided. Designed for the tropics with high ceilings and good air flow, it is environmentally cooled. Two fans provided.

Seating for 6. Outdoor warm dining room facing ocean has teak table seating 7. Additional teak table for 4 with sun umbrella on roof terrace and table for 6 on patio.
Entertainment:
Satellite TV, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games, Tennis Court. Sony CD/radio system accepts USB/MP3 Ipod. Often you will have the pool to yourself. Boules set, chess, card games at villa. Large seawater communal swimming pool and childrens pools.
Outside:
Communal Pool, Terrace, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Balcony, Garden Furniture. Palms, oleander and hibiscus. Roof terrace with 2 teak chaise longues. Outdoor shower and sink. 2 solid teak steamers/ recliner chairs. 2 balconies on first floor. Washing lines and pegs.

Children over 7 welcome. Suitable for those with mobility problems as 2 of the 3 bedrooms are on the ground floor. The 4th "extra" bedroom is accessed through the principal bedroom. Non smokers only.
Local activities in and around Murdeira, Sal Island
Things to do: Murdeira resort, Stroll a few yards to your own cove. Walk for miles up the empty shores. Climb Monte Leon. Swim in the sea. Fish from the shore. Snorkel from nearby beach. Picnic in an undiscovered spot by the sea. Get fit in the gym, swim in the pool, dine by the water's edge. Relax and watch the sea, listen to the ocean, gaze at the stars. Eat as many or as few meals you like at the oceanside restaurant. Unwind, read books, listen to music, sunbathe in the privacy of your own roof terrace or balcony. Cycle or walk to ocean barbecue restaurant just past the next headland. Visit local farms. Drive a 4x4 or quad bike.
Espargos, see the real Cape Verdes, visit shops, grocery stores, restaurants, market, bars, bank, notary, solicitors. Santa Maria, tourist restaurants, hotels, diving, wind surfing, kite surfing, pubs, banks, hotels. Pedra de Lume, extinct volcano crater with salt lakes like the dead sea to bathe in and black mud to cover yourselves with. Burracona, volcanic caves and natural swimming pool at ocean's edge.
Trips: Visit other Cape Verde islands for the day, hire a 4x4 to find deserted spots, take out a quad bike, rent a scooter, bicycle, go fishing, dinghy sail by the hour, sail in a yacht for 1/2 or one day. We can put you in touch with someone who can help organise these.
Diving
Diving in Sal, Cape Verdes is extremely popular. There are many places to choose from, fish to see, volcanic geology, caves, wrecks, lava walls as well as night dives. Prices are very reasonable at approx £25 per dive. PADI courses are about £250. Manta Diving operates from Santa Maria.
Direct flights to Sal Cape Verde from Gatwick, Manchester, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Luanda, Rome, Bergamo, Bologna, Frankfurt, Paris, Munich, Gran Canaria, then 10 minutes by taxi to the villa.

Fine Egyptian cotton sheets, bath and beach towels from Peter Jones are provided. The villa will be cleaned prior to your arrival, once during the week, and on change-over day.
We provide comprehensive villa information, and free info guide. We can assist with flights and obtain Cape Verde visas and book car hire.
Please advise at time of booking how you wish the bedrooms to be made up (twin, double, single) and if you require the fourth bedroom which is normally used as a general store room.
Payment possible by credit card or debit card. If you don't want self catering and would like to pre-book half or full board at the resort's ocean side restaurant, we can organise this for you. Otherwise, you can eat there as little or as often as you please.
