Welcome to our British-owned apartment in Le Chinaillon near Le Grand Bornand. We provide privately owned, top quality, spacious accommodation in this charming mountain village all year round.
Cheap flights to Geneva and very reasonable rent charges add up to a sensibly priced holiday.
In summer the range of activities is considerable. There is walking, biking and pony trekking in the mountains with glorious views; paragliding and rock climbing (for the adventurous); swimming, tennis and golf in the vicinity and a full range of water sports on Lake Annecy.
In winter Grand Bornand is a well-established, fully linked ski resort with over 200km of marked runs gathered around a genuine alpine village. There are also extensive cross country trails and snowy walking paths.
The location of this first floor apartment is exceptional being only a short distance from both the shopping area and the ski slopes.
No 3, Residence Le Mont Blanc is one of six flats in a building erected in the 1970's. It was completely refurbished to a very high specification in 2007. It is fully centrally heated.
The apartment, being from the 1970's, is far more spacious than flats built today (c. 50 sq m). The overall area of the accommodation is in excess of 63 square meters with an additional 17 square meters of balcony!
The salon is a large open plan room with separate areas for cooking, eating and relaxing.
The fully fitted kitchen has a ceramic hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, many appliances and a full range of cooking utensils. It has ample storage space for all your provisions. There are French windows that open out to south facing balcony.
The dining area has an extending table and chairs with matching sets of glass, crockery and cutlery for 10 people. A high chair is available for small children.
The salon is well furnished with comfortable modern sofas. There is a flat screen TV with DVD/CD facility which receives a wide variety of international channels and radio programmes. There is a selection of books and games. A telephone is provided and is charged at the standard France Telecom rates.
Huge windows give extensive views of the surrounding mountains and skiing areas. The balcony at the side offers an unrivalled view of the route leading to and from the Col de la Colombiere, one of the “classic” routes of the Tour de France.
There are two good sized twin-bedded rooms. These are furnished with pine wardrobes and chests of drawers.
The bathroom is equipped with a long bath which incorporates a shower. There is also a basin and WC. All sheets and bath towels are included. A great bonus is the second, and separate, WC.
A cot is available for infants and a child's bed can be supplied.
There is a washer/dryer in the bathroom and ironing equipment is available.
The ski locker in the basement is used for storing sports kit.

2 Twin Bedrooms. The beds are full-sized and very comfortable. There is extra sleeping accommodation for two people on a sofa bed in the spacious salon and room for a child's bed or cot in the larger bedroom.
Bathrooms:
1 Bathroom, 1 Separate WC. The bathroom with powerful shower over a long bath, WC and basin, incorporates a washer/dryer. There is a granite top and plenty of storage. The separate second WC is a great bonus!
Kitchen:
Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Iron. The modern kitchen is fully equipped to a very high standard with ample granite worktop and (almost) every appliance that you could require. It makes self-catering a real pleasure!
General:
Central Heating, Telephone, House Linen, Towels Provided, Internet Access. Good quality bed linen and towels are provided (except cot linen). As there is no maid service, tenants are expected to leave the premises as clean and tidy upon departure as it was upon arrival.
Dining:
Seating for 8. The extending dining table allows up to 8 people to enjoy a meal together. Top quality china, glass and cutlery is provided. There is even a pierrade for a typical "Savoie" evening.
Entertainment:
Terrestrial TV, Satellite TV, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games. There is a flat screen television which receives French terrestrial TV as well as Sky Freesat channels including many radio programmes. A selection of games, DVD's and children's toys are provided.
Outside:
Parking, Balcony, Garden Furniture. An important feature of the apartment is the extensive L-shaped balcony (17 sq. mtrs.) which faces south and west. It catches the sun throughout the entire day and is equipped with table and chairs.
Suitability:
Children Welcome, Not Suitable For Wheelchairs, Suitable For Elderly, Sorry - No Pets Allowed, Smoking Allowed.
As the apartment is on the first floor and there is no lift, wheelchairs cannot be accommodated.
While smoking is allowed, we would like to think that smokers would avail themselves of the balcony.
Local activities in and around Le Grand Bornand, Rhone Alps
An article entitled “A Mountain Mecca”, published in the March 2007 issue of “French Property News”, described Le Chinaillon as “One of the most family-friendly ski resorts in the area (the Haute-Savoie), it is popular all the year round with skiing and snowboarding in the winter giving way to walking and golf, as well as sailing and watersports on Lake Annecy in the summer.”
In winter there is magnificent skiing only minutes away. The resort is perfect for families with young children. Access to the slopes is extremely convenient and there are ample shops and restaurants to satisfy the needs of all.
In the summer you can step out of the apartment onto a huge network of walking paths which take you far into the mountains, away from civilisation. You can get around on mountain bikes too, which you can rent, on many of the same paths. Swimming is available in the large outdoor pool complex in Le Grand Bornand or you could go down to the beach on Lake Annecy and swim in the cleanest lake in Europe.
There are several championship standard golf courses within 2 hours drive as well as a challenging 9 hole course in Le Grand Bornand. Tuition is available. There are tennis courts nearby and a great range of other activities aimed at children.
Summer is also the time for outdoor festivals from lakeside classical music and fireworks to “Le Bonheur des Momes”, one of the biggest children’s festivals in Europe, which takes place each year in Le Grand Bornand at the end of August.
There are many activities organised for visitors based around the village. If you wish, you can sign up for a whole week of various organised activities.
As you enter Le Chinaillon, you will see a Pharmacie on your right. The apartment is on the first floor, directly above the Pharmacie. The entry door is between the Pharmacie and Intersport.

Rental Notes: Changeover day is normally Sunday, but alternative arrangements may be possible.
Guests will be welcomed by the property managers who will show them round the apartment. The accommodation is available from 16.00 on the first day. Guests are requested to vacate the property by 10.00 on the final day.
While there is no maid service, guests can avail themselves of a cleaning service if required.
The property managers can arrange for catering, baby sitting, shopping, etc.
