On the Wiltshire/Somerset border, tucked away down a little country lane overlooking open countryside is this delightful listed farm cottage, dating back to 1652. Converted from the cheese room attached to the farmhouse, the cottage has undergone complete refurbishment in 2007.
It is tastefully furnished and well equipped, making this a relaxing holiday home in a peaceful location, yet close to local amenities. The cottage provides an ideal touring base with Bath 25 minutes away. Longleat and Stourhead estates are nearby and the historic town of Bradford on Avon is only 4 miles away where canal boatrips offer a relaxing way to meander through the countryside.
Manor Cottage is the former cheese room to Manor Farm, and is attached to the main farm house by the entrance hall only. The cottage is a sunny, newly refurbished 2 bedroom bolt hole in the Wiltshire countryside. The cottage has a tiled entrance vestibule, leading through to the large sunny lounge, with log burning stove for those chillier nights and a dining alcove. Many of the furnishings are antique. The newly fitted bathroom has a separate bath and shower cubicle.
The kitchen is also newly fitted with all modern conveniences including microwave, dishwasher and washing machine/dryer. The floor is tiled and has underfloor heating. The bedrooms are light and airy - one is a double with a fitted wardrobe and the other is a twin. Outside is a patio area with garden furniture and BBQ.
Guests have exclusive use of the paddock area opposite. The cottage is situated down the end of a no through lane which leads directly onto bridle paths. It is secluded but not remote. The nearest shop is at the top of the lane, and further facilities (large Tesco Extra superstore) is just 3 miles away. Bath is 12 miles, the delightful Bradford on Avon just 5 miles, Longleat is 10 miles. We are surrounded by many excellent gastro pubs.

Well behaved dog by arrangement. 4 dogs and several cats already in residence! Bathroom is on the ground floor with bedrooms on the first floor. There is no door between the lounge and the stairs.
Local activities in and around Trowbridge, South West
Bath - 25 minutes drive from the cottage. There are many other attractions to enjoy. Within a 12 mile radius of the cottage visitors can enjoy Longleat House and Safari Park, Farleigh Hungerford castle (NT) and Stourhead House and Gardens (NT).
Closer to the cottage is the historic wool town of Bradford on Avon (4 miles) where there are many delightful walks along the Kennet and Avon canal and through the steep winding streets to view historic buildings such as the Tithe Barn and Saxon church.
Or try a boat trip from the Warfe. Or leave the car at the cottage and walk or cycle straight out into open countryside along bridleways and footpaths, perhaps stopping at one of the delightful local pubs for a leisurely drink and a bite to eat. Too much activity? The cottage itself has a patio area and barbeque just outside and also a paddock area for guest use with a large willow for relaxing under on a warm afternoon.
For those who want a holiday with your horse, the farm has 16 acres of paddocks, a stable block and a 40x20 rubber coated outdoor menage. You can ride straight out from the field gate onto bridleways. We can arrange qualified instructors in all disciplines and are just 30 minutes (lorry) drive away from the largest equestrian centre in the area – West Wilts Equestrian Centre. DIY livery: £35 week.

Rental Notes: The cottage is available for weekend breaks (minimum 2 nights) out of high season.
Manor Cottage is also fully equipped for the business user or those wanting a quiet working environment having free wireless high speed internet. It is available for weekday lets (minimum of three nights) outside of high season.
Rental is Friday to Friday. An Agreement, which incorporates these booking conditions is formed between us when we receive your completed booking form (following a provisional reservation by email/telephone) and payment of the deposit by cheque.
A deposit of £100 is payable on booking. Confirmation will be sent by post or e-mail upon receipt of this deposit. The balance of the cost of the holiday is due six weeks before you arrive. (Or the full amount if the arrival date less than 6 weeks)
Manor Cottage will be available from 4pm on the day of your arrival, until 10am on the morning of your departure. We ask that you leave the cottage in a clean and tidy condition.
