Our house is situated in the beautiful French village of Mialett. We have two bedrooms and can sleep 4/5 with comfortable Z bed for the 5th. Mialett has shops, post office, cafes, and restaurants, one of which is amost next door and is a little like "Allo Allo" in the TV series, they do a good petit dejeuner. There are lovely walks and many large lakes all around,offering fishing, swimming etc.
Our house is a typical French village house, very comfortable having been fully restored,and with all the comforts you should need, heating, air conditioning, sky TV etc. If you want a great "base" in a lovely peaceful area, from which to explore the Dordogne and savour the French way of life,you need look no further.
The accommodation is on two floors. Downstairs there is a lounge area, open plan with the dining area and kitchen(photo's). The kitchen has an oven, hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave and toaster. Upstairs you have a good size double bedroom, complete with window net for sleeping at night with the window open, as we do. The other bedroom is a small size double.
We also have a Z bed so we can sleep up to 5 if needed. We can also supply a cot if needed. The bathroom has a shower cubical, heated towel rail, wc, and vanity unit. There is heating in all rooms, and a cental air-conditioning unit for your comfort at night.
We must point out, however, that we cannot offer you a large garden,with views over the valley or large swimming pool as our house is a small village house and they do not normally have such things, we do, however, have a small area to the front where you can sit out and enjoy a glass or two of wine in the evenings. If you just want a very French, very comfortable "base" from which to explore, or just relax, at a reasonable price, read on.

Local activities in and around Brantome, Aquitaine/Dordogne
The Dordogne is a wonderful holiday area, with breathtaking scenery. It also has a wealth of history with many chateau's,museums,rivers and caves to explore. Sarlat and Domme in the south are a must to visit. Sarlat is a beautiful medieval town with lots of lovely small lanes full of shops,cafes,restaurants,plus street entertainers in the evenings, it's very lively.
All the villages and towns have their own local markets on different days, selling just about everything. You can spend many enjoyable mornings this way. For the more active, there is canoeing, horse riding, swimmimg (in pool or river/lake) and many chateaus and caves to explore.
Periqueux, the capital of the Dordogne is only 25 minutes away and offers something for everyone. Closer to Mialett is Brantome(the little Venice of the Dordogne). It sits on the river Dronne and has lots of bridges/parks, shops etc. Here you can hire canoe's and canoe down the river and visit many of the lovely small villages along the way.
Brantome is only 20 minutes away. The caves at "Grotte de Villars" are only 10 minutes away and well worth a visit. Last but not least there is the large chateau's at Jumilhac Le Grand, where you can enjoy a swim in the river and Hautefort with it's lovely village and breathtaking views. There is so much more, there will be more information and maps at the house for you.
How about Getting a "low cost " flight to Limoges and hiring a car? We are 20 miles south of Limoges.
