Balnakilly is a privately owned estate of over 1,500 acres situated in Strathardle, the open valley of the River Ardle, in the most beautiful part of Perthshire. With secluded privacy, superb views and an abundance of wildlife, Balnakilly Cottages and Log Cabins have lots to offer both adults and children.
This solidly built, well insulated, Norwegian Log Cabin is situated by the Tullochcurran burn and has good views of the hills. They are well spaced out for privacy and each has a sheltered patio area with garden furniture. The living/dining area is open plan with colour TV and leads to a fitted, all-electric kitchen with fridge. Heating is by electric radiator. Each cabin sleeps 4/5 people plus baby. A chair bed is available.
Unlike the high rainfall areas of the west, this area has one of the driest and sunniest climates in the country. For a real 'get away from it all' holiday, there can be few comparisons to a stay at Balnakilly. Absorb living in a paradise of nature in this truly unspoilt pocket of Perthshire. Local activities in and around Kirkmichael, Central Scotland
Kirkmichael is ideally situated, being in the centre of the Highlands, well placed for Scotland's famous golf courses and historic castles. The well-known Pitlochry Theatre is only 12 miles away and the Glenshee Ski centre is 18 miles away. The new Cateran Walking Trail passes through the estate. For those that need to stay in touch there is excellent Vodafone reception in the area.
The village: Kirkmichael village has a hotel, garage and superb new shop and coffee shop and it is within walking distance of all the properties. Groceries can be delivered directly from Kirkmichael Village Shop prior to your arrival. Mountain bikes may be hired.
Activities: Sadly due to the fire at Balnakilly House, we cannot offer the use of the swimming pool. A tennis court in the village is available. Trout and salmon fishing, game shooting and riding can be arranged. Rebecca grazes her horses in our fields and the rides go through the estate. Cairnwell Mountain Sports for hang gliding, skiing, snowboarding and water sports. The natural beauty and historic buildings in the Strathardle area offer wonderful opportunities for photography, sketching and painting.
Skiers will be thrilled when they discover that Glenshee, Britain's biggest ski resort is only a 25 minute drive away, and Aviemore an hour away.

Prices are per week from Saturday to Saturday for direct bookings.
Electricity and gas: Electricity is charged at 8.5p per unit, and an electricity deposit is charged during winter months. Gas for the Aga in Strathview is charged at a fixed rate of £20 per week.
Extra persons: Any person over 5 years old in excess of the maximum stated numbers is charged £40 per week.
Dogs: Dogs are charged at £10 per week.
Discounts: For lets of over one week,10% is deducted from the basic price of the second and subsequent weeks. For two-person occupancy at certain times a further 10% discount is available.
Deposit: A booking is confirmed on receipt of a deposit of 30% with the balance due one month before arrival. Short Breaks and Ski Holiday Prices are available on request.
