This little apartment in Cellardyke offers the perfect touring base around the East Neuk with St Andrews 10 miles drive north. Cellardyke is situated on the spectacular Fife Costal Path, this trail leads through beaches, cliffs and historic sites.
The village name Cellardyke (Silverwalls) refers back to when herring nets were draped on the walls to dry in the sun and the fish scales shimmered. I am also pleased to report that one of the best fish & chip shops in the country is a 15 min walk away in Anstruther. "The Anster Chip Shop".

I have just recently become the owner of this little flat, I walked in the door, climbed the stairs and just loved it. I think you will too. John Street is a very traditional and historic street, 42b would have been the upper floor of a fisherman's terraced cottage.
The entrance to the apartment is by the blue door on the street, up a flight of stairs into the Kitchen/living room. The colours and atmosphere are tranquill and marine. The kitchen is" L "shaped with windows onto the terraced shared back garden. The double bedroom and quality shower/bathroom are accessed fom a little hall adjacent.
The bedroom is simply furnished and most importantly fresh 100% cotton bed linen, duck down pillows. A good sleep. About 10 yards along the street from the front door is a lane that opens onto the foreshore, stunning views across to May Island, I prefer this spot to sit, read or snooze to the garden.
The trip to the May Island by boat is amazing, visit the lighthouse and cliffs where Puffins, Terns, Shags and Guillemont can be seen. For a relaxing evening a stroll to 'The Haven' restaurant at the harbour is a 2 min walk and gets great reviews (on Friday night or Saturday advise pre-booking table for the evening.) . "East Neuk Outdoors" just a 5 min walk away offer a range of activities for adults and children which include Canoeing, Kayaking, Absailing, Mountain Biking, Archery, Orienteering and Coastal Scrambles.

Local activities in and around Anstruther, Central Scotland
Quiet Cellardyke merges into Anstruther, which has a large selection of shops at the harbourside, pubs and restuarants offering a wide variety of eateries
Along the coast from Crail to Elie are the other East Neuk towns of Pittenween and St. Monans. Part of the Coastal Path runs from Crail to Elie. All these villages have good bus service links. St Andrews is only 10 miles away.
The famous Peat Inn is a real treat but book ahead. Golf Courses!! There are courses at Kingsbarns, Crail, Anstruther and Elie. More challenges can be found at St Andrews and the two courses at Leven and Lundin Links. East Neuk Activities tel 01333311929.
From Anstruther, at the mini roundabout, exit to Rodger Street along the front to Cellardyke. Into James Street, then John Street. No 42b is on R.H.S. blue door. Parking bays are on 1st come basis.
