Approached from the road along an almost hidden driveway, The Watermill in Thornage is a sheer haven for nature lovers, nestling in the Glaven Valley with the river Glaven running by, home for several rarer birds and animals. It is a perfect location for a peaceful break at any time of the year. At the same time, although tucked away, the village of Thornage is only 1.5 miles from Holt with its interesting shops and places to eat, and only a short drive to the coast.
The mill has been extensively restored and renovated to make a spacious and comfortable home. Original beams have been retained throughout the property. The internal mill machinery, although not working now has been retained, making an interesting feature on entering the property.
From the entrance way leads to a hall with a short flight of stairs to the front door. Off the hall is a downstairs cloakroom with w.]c. and basin. From the hall is the large family kitchen dining room.
It is fully fitted with a dishwasher, a microwave, a fridge / freezer, a built in oven and grill and a ceramic hob. There is also an electric Aga for winter use only. The large dining table comfortably seats 8 plus and there is a sofa in the kitchen too.
Back to the hall stairs lead to the first floor with the large lounge with extensive views over the garden, fields and river. There is a large open fireplace and plenty of comfy seating,, a small TV is available. Also on this floor is the games room. Three of the original millstones are still in place along with more of the machinery.
Stairs to the 2nd floor open on to a landing with 1 large double bedroom with views over the fields, a playroom with toys, games and a travel cot if required and a single bedroom.
There is a shower room with w.c. and basin and then the master bedroom which has a large dressing room and hanging space. A bathroom leads off the dressing room with a bath with a hand held shower over, w.c. and basin. The large master bedroom has a super king-sized bed and has fantastic views of the river from two windows.
On the third floor is a large twin bedroom in the eaves with the best views of all through velux roof lights.
Outside to the rear is a large lawn area surrounded by trees and shrubs to one side and the river the other. There is plenty of parking at the front of the mill.
Across the mill yard is a utility room sited in one of the outbuildings. This has a washing machine, tumble dryer and a w.c.
Please note that care must be taken if you have young children because of the potential danger of the river and access to the mill machinery. Linen and towels provided.
