Providing self-catering accommodation for groups of up to 8 persons, Le Chalet Fischer is a modern construction of unique design, tastefully furnished & decorated, & superbly equipped. On sunny mountain slopes in Verchaix (very near Samoens & Morillon), a delightful Savoyard village in the Giffre Valley, at a gateway to Le Grand Massif ski domain, the chalet boasts superb panoramic views. Formed by the resorts of Les Carroz, Flaine, Morillon, Samoens & Sixt (linked by 78 ski lifts), Le Grand Massif is one of the largest ski areas in Europe (260km).
You will find satellite colour TV, VCR (European format), DVD player, radio/cassette/cd player, telephone (receives incoming calls, uses prepaid card for outgoing) & two sofas converting into full length beds. The entrance to the chalet is via the east facing terrace which takes you into the upper ground level of the property & the lounge which has a woodburning stove as a central feature & the dining area.
The kitchen has a breakfast bar, granite work surfaces, ceramic hob, microwave & eye-level ovens, large refrigerator, separate freezer, dishwasher, crockery, glassware, kitchen utensils & ovenware, coffee machine & grinder, electric kettle, kitchen robot, toaster, cheese & meat fondue sets, raclette machines.
There is one bedroom on the upper ground level & two on the top floor (one with a balcony facing the rising sun & one opening on to a large balcony facing due south). Also on the top floor is the mezzanine sleeping area which leads on to the large south facing balcony.
Towels (bath, hand, kitchen), pillows, duvets & bed linen are provided as well as soaps, shower gels & shampoos. Beds are made up for arrival of guests. There are hairdryers & alarm clocks, iron, ironing board, garden furniture, cot & high chair as well as ski lock-up/ski boot drying room & parking area. Wifi broadband internet connection for guests with laptop computers & upon request, photocopying and fax facilities.
A discount on hire of ski or board equipment has been arranged for Le Chalet Fischer winter guests.
Self Catering Prices Include: Electricity, hot water, heating, end of stay cleaning, linen (beds prepared), towels, well-being products (shower gels, soaps, shampoos), logs, items such as washing up liquid, washing up sponges, dishwasher tabs, coffee filters, kitchen towels local tax & in winter, assistance with pre-reservation of skis, boards, etc., bathrobes, transfers to/from ski lift (and supermarket).
Optional Extras (price supplements): cleaning during stay; purchase of groceries & delivery to chalet prior to arrival of guests or during stay (list provided by guest); French conversation, vocabulary and reading skills tuition (individual or group). Also, in winter: assistance with booking of ski and/or board lessons; 'takeaway' dinners; home baked cakes for afternoon tea.

Local activities in and around Samoens, Rhone Alps
Le Grand Massif provides sports enthusiasts with slopes for skiers of all levels - there are black, red & blue runs, as well as nursery slopes for beginners & small children & 72km of green, blue, red & black cross-country skiing tracks. For those seeking stronger sensations, there is snow boarding. Various ski excursions with experienced guides are also possible. As the slopes of the Samoėns ski resort are north facing, therefore conserving the snow layer for longer periods than other slopes, & as the Giffre Valley is oriented east-west at only 10 km from Mont Blanc as the crow flies, good quality snow is assured. The non-skier can try, ice-skating, dog-sleighing, mountain walking, snowshoeing, snow walking (marked out tracks).
Spring, Summer & Autumn as well as showing to perfection the bountiful flora and fauna of the area, are ideal seasons for mountain walking & climbing, paragliding, horse-riding, cycling, mountain biking, canoeing, rafting, tennis & swimming. Also, Le Chalet Fischer is the perfect starting point for excursions to places such as Chamonix (Mont Blanc), Annecy, Yvoire & Evian. A day trip from Verchaix to neighbouring Switzerland, could be, for example, to Geneva, Lausanne/Ouchy, or Montreux. A day trip to Italy could be to Turin. Numerous sights of interest are within a one hour drive.
