The apartment is in the grounds of Orchardviews House in a pretty location down a quiet and leafy lane in the hills of Budapest. Yet with a bus stop round the corner it is only 20 minutes from the city centre.

The main house and cottage, completely enclosed and surrounded by trees, stand in half an acre of gardens flanked by grape vines. In front of the house and to the side of the cottage are flower beds in bloom for 7 months of the year. Lawns, dotted abundantly with apple, pear, cherry, plum, hazelnut and walnut trees, stretch away to the side and rear of the house. Set well back from the road, Orchardviews enjoys real peace and tranquility.
People come to Budapest for many reasons: To swim in the wondeful spa waters: there are plenty of baths, many in splendid architectural settings, and the waters have proven curative powers; To see the sites of this beautiful city; To enjoy its rich culture and spicy cuisine.
Orchardviews is perfectly located for this. The apartment has been newly renovated. In front are a line of trees and a lawn stretching away. Through the front door you enter the kitchen, modern and fully fitted. From here doors lead off to the sitting room/diner and to the double bedroom, both comfortably furnished . There is a comfortable sofabed that sleeps 2 in the sitting room.
You wake in the morning....... to just birdsong! Step out of the front door and you are on a patio with garden table and chairs. Ideal for meals and drinks throughout the day. 5 minutes' walk away is a small supermarket, and nearby a simple and cosy restaurant. To eat and shop in more style take the bus for 10 minutes to Moszkva tér and the vast Mammut shopping mall with its huge range of shops and restaurants.
In 20 minutes you are in Budapest city centre with its castle high on a bend of the River Danube, streetside cafes, broad avenues and varied cultural life. So Orchardviews is perfect to rest and relax in, while on your doorstep there is a huge range of things for interested visitors to see and do in this historic and cosmopolitan city.

This is ideal for a couple (with or without children) looking for a cottage in a quiet rural-style setting, but wishing to be in the city, with easy access to the city centre.
Local activities in and around Budapest, Budapest
Budapest, with its wide avenues, Art Nouveau style and streetside cafes is reminiscent of Paris. It is in fact 2 cities: Buda, with its majestic castle, and Pest, astride the great R. Danube. Budapest offers a wealth of activities. Take your choice:
Walks: The Castle District, the jewel of Buda: take a cable car, walk the castle walls, visit the Royal Palace and exquisite St Mathias church, wander down narrow cobbled streets past old listed buildings, enjoy panoramic views across the Danube to Pest. Pest old town. Andrássy út (the Champs Élysées of Budapest). Margaret Island in the Danube, perfect for strolling, swimming pools, bike hire etc. The Budapest hills: to see these and get a spectacular view of the city take the Cogwheel Railway, or the Chairlift up to János Hill (Budapest's highest point), or the Children's Steam Railway (run largely by children!) which climbs up into the hills.
Sites: The Chain Bridge. Parliament. St Stephen's Basilica. The splendid neo-classical Central Market (Buy almost anything here). Wonderful Museums like the National Museum and The National Gallery. The Opera House. To name just a few.
Thermal Spas: Hungary is famous for these, many in beautiful settings. Spend a lazy day in the famous Széchenyi or Gellért and feel those aches and pains ease away.
Cafes and Restaurants: Hungarians love to sit and talk over coffee and cakes (tea too!). So must you if you are to get the feel of this city. Experience spicy Hungarian cuisine at a restaurant by the Danube at night, with the castle lit up high on the far bank, and be serenaded by gypsy fiddlers at your table.
Excursions: Boat trips on the Danube. Drive to: Lake Balaton, the largest lake in Central Europe and ideal for swimming and boating; Szentendre, a beautifully preserved little town on the Danube; Székesfehérvár, the ancient capital of Hungary; The Danube Bend, with the Danube on one side and misty forested hills rising up on the other. And so much more.
From the airport take a taxi or airport minibus direct to Orchardviews. By public transport take a metro to Moszkva tér then a 156 bus to the end of the line. Orchardviews is 2 mins walk from here.

Rental Notes: Though the apartment is self-catering we provide a welcome pack to last you for the first breakfasts: bread, butter,marmalade/jam, milk, coffee/tea, sugar, cereal. You may come after 2pm on the first day and we ask you to vacate the premises by 10am on the day of departure.
A 25% non-returnable deposit secures your booking with the balance payable on arrival. We also ask for a 100 pounds deposit (returned when you leave) to cover the costs of any damage or breakages.
