Minnie´s Cottage - Traditional Irish Cottage in Glenbeigh
Cottage with 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4, Garden
Old world cottage full of character and atmosphere in the most attractive part of the island in an absolutely quiet area, but with modern amenities such as sauna and Sat-TV.
The 300 year-old cottage lies in Glenbeigh on the Ring of Kerry at the foot of Ireland´s highest mountains in the gulf-stream region of Ireland. The house is situated together with the neighbouring "Apple Tree Lodge" on its own grounds approx. 3 miles from the village and a bit more than half a mile from the Atlantic.
The house sleeps up to 4 people. We do recommend it for 2 adults and 2 children at the most, however. Please note, that from 02-05-09 to 17-10-09 the house is only available / bookable from Saturday to Saturday. You will find its availability under "availability"and its exact prices under" view details"on this page.
The cottage contains a living-room with large open-fire, Sat-TV(with 2 dishes for English and German stations), cosy sitting facilities with sofa, rocking-chairs for young and old, radio, CD-player etc together with a dining area come kitchen (fridge, 4 ring-cooker etc.).
The parental bedroom has a large French double bed, the small children's bedroom a bunk-bed. Finally there is the bathroom with shower and toilet and the sauna.
Outside there is a little yard with a flower-bed, a table, a bench and chairs. You will also find some deckchairs. The cottage is suitable for 2 adults and two younger children. If it is cold you have the option of the use of the oil-fired heating, or the night storage heating and/or electric heaters.
From the panoramic Ring of Kerry you reach the house on narrow country roads, the last 300 yards of the cul-de-sac are not tarmaced or paved. The road is part of Ireland´s most renowned walk the" Kerry way" and converts into a footpath from there down to the sea. Accordingly the only traffic is is from walkers, riders or sheep and therefore absolutely safe.
The village of Glenbeigh is only about 3 miles away, one of Ireland´s best sandy beaches "Rossbeigh"(blue flag) about 1 m and "Dooks" one of Ireland´s top golf-courses is at the other end of the village together with Caragh Lake and river for excellent salmon and trout fishing. In Glenbeigh you will find shops, 3 restaurants, 4 pubs, 2 riding-stables,a sports-complex, bike-rental and a brand-new childrens' playground at the beach.
The house is the ideal starting- point for tours round the Ring of Kerry, the Dingle Peninsula, the highland of Glencar and Derrynane National Park. The nearest towns are Killarney and Tralee (approx.25m).
