From the moment you arrive you will be amazed at the beauty and setting of this unique cottage. As it is on the shore of Loch Ness, you can look out for Nessie (the Loch Ness monster) at all times of the day and during the long bright summer evenings. The cottage has a conservatory from which you can sit and watch the ever-changing loch, sunsets, wildlife and mountains. Two comfortable, well-equipped bedrooms (one twin, one double) also with stunning loch views, ensure you will sleep well in the peace and quiet of the private countryside location.
The well-appointed kitchen allows you to enjoy preparing the rich variety of local produce available at local Farmers Markets and from local producers. Inverness city is only 16 miles away (25 minute drive) and you have ample car parking space at the cottage for any number of vehicles. You are encouraged to help yourself to the rhubarb and cherries in the garden all summer. The wildlife will also amaze you with dozens of birds visiting the garden bird house, regular sightings of red and sika deer, pine martens, pheasants, osprey, woodpeckers, red squirrels, bats and at night you are guaranteed to hear the occasional owl.
With Freeview TV, home entertainment, board games, CDs and DVDs you are ensured of a fun time inside or out. Fishing is allowed from either of The Cottage's private beaches (there is a shingle and a rock beach), accessible down steps from the garden. Visitors have caught brown trout & salmon. Local activities in and around Loch Ness, Highlands & Islands
The Cottage is in the village of Inverfarigaig on South Loch Ness with many woodland, mountain and loch side walks starting from your front door. Within a few minutes of The Cottage there are many other lochs, mountains and forests to explore. The wildlife will also amaze you with dozens of bird species, regular sightings of red and sika deer, pine martens, pheasants, osprey, woodpeckers, red squirrels, bats and at night you are guaranteed to hear the occasional owl. Golden eagles have also been seen and the nearby Loch Ruthven is an impressive bird reserve. Dolphin watching is guaranteed from Chanonry Point on the Black Isle, a 40 minute drive away. The Cottage is an ideal base for touring everything the Highlands have to offer.
Fishing is allowed from either of The Cottage's private beaches with visitors regularly catching brown trout and occasionally salmon. Sunbathing is also possible on the shingle beach some weeks of the year ! .
Fort Augustus is 25 minutes away with its stunning locks and good range of restaurants. The nearby village of Foyers (2 miles away) has a post office, general store and cafe for your everyday needs. The Highland Games occur all over the Highlands during the summer, including in Inverness, Nairn and many surrounding towns. Ben Nevis and Fort William are only one hour away and Skye is also a comfortable day trip.
