Bansko is a thriving, modern winter ski resort which rivals the Alps at a fraction of the price. The season runs from December to April and excellent ski facilities are guaranteed. Skiers of all abilities are well catered for, as Bansko has over 70 km of marked ski runs. In less than 20 minutes, a fast Gondola cable lift will whisk you to the modern ski centre, situated on the upper mountain slopes. The ski runs are serviced by a number of cutting edge Doppelmayer chair and drag lifts. At the end of the day, it is your choice whether to return by the Gondola, or ski down the ski road, which marks Bansko as one of the few resorts in the world to offer this option.
In addition to on-piste skiing, there is a fun park which offers fans of the extreme winter sports the option to ski over artificial bumps and jumps. A brand new ice skating rink has also recently opened. All the latest ski and snowboarding equipment is available to hire in resort and some of Bulgaria’s best ski instructors are on hand to give tuition to beginners.
A warm, sunny climate prevails during the summer months in Bansko. The great outdoors awaits with some of the most stunning scenery and nature in the World. Walking, mountaineering, paragliding, cycling, canoeing, horse riding and golfing are all on offer in the resort and the numerous Spa and Wellness centres offer total relaxation for both mind and body. There are many historical, architectural and cultural monuments in Bansko, including the famous local church and the houses of famous Bulgarians from the period of the Bulgarian Revival.
