Set in the heart of the Vale of Taunton Deane, with views to the Quantock Hills on one side and the Blackdowns on the other, the Long Barn at Pontispool is the ideal holiday retreat for up to 12 people.
You can settle into a slower pace of living, where only the Hillfarrance brook looks like it’s in a hurry. The newly converted barn lies in the middle of a 450 acre estate, where the family indulges its passion for horses. Emerge into the Somerset air and you may believe that you have gone back in time to a more leisurely era. But go through the door and you will be reassured that the house has every 21st century convenience. Gas central heating radiates warmth in winter, whilst in the main living area, a wood burner adds additional ambiance.
Despite its rural location, the Long Barn is close to transport links. It is 15 minutes from Taunton railway station and the same from Junction 26 of the M5 motorway. If you want to do more than relax in the hot tub in the sunny garden, admiring the views, Somerset provides a wealth of possibilities. There are lovely country pubs, Exmoor is nearby, and the barn is situated on a national cycle route. The excellent Oake Manor Golf Club is a couple of miles away. Ideal for a holiday or a short break, the Long Barn is the perfect country retreat for you, your friends and your family.
The Long Barn has the highest standards of furnishings, fixtures and fittings. There are 5 large bedrooms (6 from March 2008), all en-suite which can accommodate up to 12 people comfortably. All the bedrooms can have double or twin beds depending on your preference. The large kitchen is well equipped, but you don’t feel you have to use it: caterers can be supplied if required.
The property consists of: Ground floor: Entrance hall with slate floor, Cloakroom with WC, Two bedrooms both with TV’s and en-suite shower rooms with WC, Large kitchen with 3 oven range cooker, Wood burning stove, Spacious Living / dining room. First floor: Utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron, hairdryer. Three bedrooms all with TV’s, two with en-suite bathrooms and WC, one with en-suite shower room and WC. Oak flooring throughout.
Outside there is: Large garden, Patio, Garden Furniture, Barbeque, Summer House with gas table heater, Hot tub, Natural pond ( fenced for safety), Children’s play area, 10m x 5m Indoor Swimming Pool, Games area (table football, air hockey, pool table), Additional ensuite bedroom adjacent to swimming pool.
