It is surrounded by the beautiful mountain landscape of the Hochsauerland and offers many opportunities for an active and varied holiday - like mountain biking, bowling, midget golf, golf, horse riding, swimming, skating, walking or a trip in a horse drawn carriage in Winterberg.
There is also lots to see in the direct proximity. The beautiful panoramic route "Hochsauerland-Höhenstraße" (102 km) is definitely worth a car excursion and offers great views on the lovely valleys. In winter Winterberg and its region are perfect for skiing and langlauf, as the snow canons always ensure there is enough snow. Winterberg hosts every year the ski jump World Championship.
