The Scaldis was built in 1902 as a freight ship for the transport of goods between the Zealand and South-Holland islands. It now is a comfortable and fast sailing passenger ship which sleeps 16. Besides sailing trips, the ship also offers group accommodation during the winter months in the fortified town Hellevoetsluis. The quiet anchoring berth in the Canal through Voorne, has a closing fence and is located between the shopping centre and the historical walls of Hellevoetsluis.
Within the walls you will find the VVV/ANWB (tourist office), the fire brigade museum, the dry docks Jan Blanken, shops, various restaurants, cafés and a bakery open on Sundays. Hellevoetsluis is a great starting point for trips to Rotterdam, 20 km, the North sea beach, dunes and the sea at 5 km. A holiday on the Scaldis is cosy, fun and varied. Inform with the captain for additional costs for sailing for one or more days during your stay and visit other ports.
