A large monumental farm on t'Hoogelaand between Rasquert and Den Andel where farmers have been cultivating their wheat and potatoes for more than 250 years. The former front of the house with its authentic elements, where the maids and workers used to live has been transformed into a luxurious appartment. A wide view from your own living room or terrace reveals the surrounding villages betweren the corn-fields. On long summer evenings there is no other place where you can enjoy the unique skies of the Hoogeland of Groningen. What you can do or visit in the area? Too much to list here, but among other things:
De Groninger borgen; de Maren for a great canooing-trip; seal-nursery Pieterburen; boattrips on the Waddenzee; an excursion through the Wadden with an expert guide; open air museum Warffum; Nature park Lauwersmeer; a day on the island Schiermonninkoog; several swimming-pools in the area; many churches mostly situated on "wierden" ; bike rental; Noordpolderzijl ; and the many authentic villages of Groningen located in the stretches of the Groninger land with beautiful farms, the wheat-fields and in the spring the bright-yellow coleseed fields, space, peace. All this to forget daily life stress.
When the weather is less cooperative, a day in the "City" is a good alternative. Many museums welcome you, among others the world-famous Groninger Museum, shops, galleries and restaurants are worth the visit.
The restaurants in the area vary from very luxurious to simple and cosy.
