Local activities in and around Puerto Calero, Lanzarote
Known as the Isla de los Volcanes, Lanzarote is the most easterly of the Canaries. It is a dry and generally flat island that owes its landscape to the activity of volcanoes, which are now dormant. The volcanic ash and craters have been turned to the islander's advantage in a novel method of vine cultivation.
On the South-West coast of Lanzarote, Puerto Calero is only 10 kilometres from Arrecife Airport and 20km from the islands capital.
A great place to wander is the marina where you can view the fabulous boats and get a feel of the local way of life. There are many cafes and restaurants in the area that overlook the beautiful marina.
Puerto Calero is also the base for a number of water based activites, such as catamaran trips and submarine excursions.
There are also many sport-fishing boats which allow you to try your skill at landing catches in some of the best waters around.
