Only 50 meters from the beach, this spacious house is only 35 minutes from Cherbourg, quietly located in charming coastal Barfleur. A sandy beach is located virtually on the doorstep and the bustle of the small fishing port with its quayside bars and cafes is only a 100m walk. This house provides a safe tranquil environment untroubled by noise. Rue Paul Placide is a 'no through road' - the sea is at the end of the road. The house is built in the local stone of pink granite and the accommodation surounds a private enclosed and secure courtyard garden with all the principle accomodation facing south.
Barfleur's charm and beauty merits its status of 'Les Plus Beaux Villages de France' - one of the most beautiful villages in France. This Department of Manche has a second such renowed village: the world famous Mont St Michel. Barfleur is steeped in history and this picturesque spot is a popular destination for the French for their holidays. There are miles of sandy beaches in both directions. This is the place for a really idyllic bucket and spade holiday (whether or not with chidren!), the ideal place to relax and enjoy the French way of life. Out of season there is a warm welcome from the open fire after invigourating walks on the beach.
Within only a short walk from the house are all the day to day shops including boulangerie, a butcher and greengrocers as well as a small supermarket, post office and bank. This area of France is renowned for its sea-fare and the countryside around is devoted to farming and market gardening. Besides those in Barfleur there are many good restaurants withing a short distance. Restaurants, together with street markets, give plenty of opportunity to enjoy the abundance of fresh local produce. Barfleur has a regular weekly produce market.

Local activities in and around Cherbourg, Normandy
The beach is virtually on the doorstep and several other beaches are within a walkable distance from the house. To the South are the World War II beaches and museums, an easy drive. In neighbouring St Vaast-La-Hougue the cave and grocers at Gosselin enjoys regional acclaim. To work off these delights there is sailing available in the village and surfing & kayaking along the north coast nearer to Cherbourg. There is a multitude of coastal and country walks to name but a few of the activities in the immediate area. Children love the long climb up the Gatteville lighthouse (365 steps!) Cherbourg is the largest town on the peninsula and there are many places of interest worth a visit: Bricquebec, Ste-Mere-Eglise, Portbail, St Lo and further afield Bayeaux and Mont-St-Michel
From Cherbourg leave the port following the signs N12 at the first exit. After the 3rd roundabout exit signedpost Brettville. Left at the T Junciton and this road runs all the way to Barfleur.
