Local activities in and around Llanmadoc, South & West Wales
Why Llanmadoc? Because it is simply bustling with beautiful walks and things to do, being set in the heart of 'Welsh' north west Gower, with the historic twin Churches of St Madoc's (at Llanmadoc) and St Cadoc's at nearby Cheriton 0.5km away. View handmade local pottery and stoneware at Cheriton, or walk to the Bronze Age hill fort (the Bulwark) at Llanmadoc Hill - Gower's second highest peak. Walk out to Whiteford Lighthouse, and take a circular walk around Cwm Ivy National Trust Woods, or hand-pick Samphire Grass at Landimore Marsh, catch sea-bass, flounder and occasional plaice off the local beach, or pick cockles and mussels on the beach, and then take a refreshing pint of Tomos Watkin's Chwarae Teg or Marstons Pedigree at The Britannia Inn, before sampling their a la Carte menu.
In short - close by you can do the following: some of Wales very best Sea Angling (Bass, Flounder, Mackerel, Tope and Golden Grey Mullet to name a few local species), Surfing, Golf (6 golf courses in Gower), Birdwatching, Paragliding, Jet Skiing, Swimming, mountain biking, rock climbing, yachting, canooing, archery, horseriding/trekking, scuba and snorkelling, League Football and top flight Rugby Union are all available either in Gower or nearby Swansea and Mumbles.
M4 Junction 47, then via Gowerton, Crofty, Llanrhidian and Oldwalls, then via Landimore, and down and up Cheriton 'dip', to Llanmadoc.
