The village of Dorstone is a great base for walkers and cyclists alike with its many surrounding walks and cycle trails. It's also a great location for those wanting to explore the beautiful county of Herefordshire. However with it's close proximity to Wales there's something to do in every direction!
Our property is a newly converted, grade II listed barn conversion. With it's wealth of original features, dating from the 1700's, its a fantastic blend of old and new. The 300 year old walls encase a modern chic interior that provides a perfect home from home. Our land extends to 2 acres with a wildlife pond. At most times of the year this is available for the enjoyment of those renting the cottage.(weather permitting)
A 15 minute drive will take you into Wales where you are within easy reach of the black mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park. These offer a wealth of activities for both young and old. And if you don't feel active you can just soak up the breathtaking scenery.
The Village of Dorstone is situated within the beautiful Golden Valley. It's a quiet and friendly place offering a great base for those who wish to sample village life. The local pub, The Pandy Inn, is only a few hundred meters away and offers a great atmosphere coupled with tasty home cooked food. The Pub is the oldest in the county dating back to the twelth century. It was once the eating house of Oliver Cromwell when he stayed on his way to do battle with Wales!!!
6 miles down the road is the world renound town of Hay-on-Wye. (Town of Books) This makes the cottage a great location for The Hay Festival. Offering not only books but a weekly market, selling locally produced products, pubs, antique shops, butchers, bakers etc.. Hay is delightful place to visit.
The cottage is to all intents and purposes part of our home and as such you are our guests. We will do anything we can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We do hope our cottage is of interest to you and look forward to welcoming you soon.

Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Dishwasher, Iron. The Kitchen has everything you will need for your stay with us. There is no washing machine in the cottage but there is a washing service for a small fee per load.

Central Heating, House Linen, Towels Provided. Bedding is provided for your stay with 1 set of towels per person. A washing service is provided for a small fee per load.
Dining:
Seating for 4. There is a small table for four situated in the kitchen area of the cottage.

Terrestrial TV, Satellite TV, Video, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games. There is a 42" projection TV with the full selection of Freeview channels.

BBQ, Parking, Garden Furniture. The cottage has table & chairs to the front but has no garden as such. However to the rear is our field which is available for use at most times of the year.

There is a cot available for babies. We do not provide bedding for this though.

The Town of Hay-on-Wye is 6 miles away and offers, books by the mile!, antiques, cafes, pubs, adventure activities, horse riding, canoes, fishing etc.
The area as a whole offers castles, gardens, The Mappa Mundi (oldest map of the world),horse riding, golfing, paintballing, quad biking, museums, local markets, antiques, walks, cycle trails, shops, boating lake, childrens play centres, swimmimg, canoes and much much more......
There are a wealth of things to do, to suit every taste. Or if you prefer you can just relax and soak up the beautiful surroundings.
The fabulous, the fantastic, the eagerly-awaited spectacular fire show to end all fire shows that is Hay on Fire kicks off this year at 7.30 at the Warren, Hay on Wye, with spectacular theatricals, fire trails, fire sculptures, fire dragons, fireworks, and general fiery fantasy following a magnificent procession of thousands through the town
Dorstone is on the B4348 to Hay on Wye. From Hereford direction once you enter the village take a left at the turning for the Pandy Inn. At the T junc take a right then left into the property.

Rental Notes: The cottage is available, per week, per weekend or to suit you. Weekends are Friday to Sunday or Saturday to Monday
The property is available after 4pm on the day of arrival and should be vacated by 11.30 on the day of departure.
We do provide bedding and towels but we don't provide a maid service. Washing can be arranged for a small fee per load and cleaning utensils and products are available for use during your stay.
£50.00 deposit required on booking, balance due 2 weeks prior to arrival. Late bookings to be paid in full at time of booking.
