The Cottage, is a Scandinavian style lodge rated 3star by the English Tourist Board in July 2008 it has everything you need to have a great time, the log fire can be used all year round for those chilly nights. Peace and quiet in a beautiful unspoilt part of Cumbria. Enjoy collecting wood for the fire in our fields and lazy evenings on the Patio watching breathtaking Sunsets over the Tarn.

We accept dogs as long as they under good control you can take them into the fields for a run PLEASE ask Maurice before you go .
We train racehorses on the farm, so come and see them trained by Maurice who rode Rubstic to victory in the 1979 Grand National. Enjoy a game of Golf at Brampton Golf Course, 5mins drive from Tarnside. Other local Courses nearby.
We let cottages for 25yrs.previously at Bank House Little Salkeld nr Penrith.
The spacious lounge has a log burning stove, colour FreeView TV, CD & Radio and has wonderful views over the tarn - an ideal place to relax and unwind. The kitchen is equipped with every modern convenience and the dining area has french doors leading onto the patio.
There is a good supply of Games and Books, please feel free to bring your own DVDs /CDs.
A feature spiral staircase leads to the double bedroom, whilst the second bedroom is on the ground floor. Both bedrooms are beautifully appointed.
Bathroom with shower. We have bird tables outside the cottage and there are anumber of visitors to them including the Woodpecker family who live locally!!Red squirrels are residents at the Tarn where they are fed daily.Both cottages are decorated regularly and kept to a high standard of cleanliness.There is a church in Brampton, St Martins, which has windows designed by WILLIAM MORRIS,may be of interest to some of you !! Local activities in and around Brampton, North
Using your Tarnside Lodge as a base, you can take day trips to Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall, the Scottish Borders, the Lake District and more locally the Eden Valley and North Pennine areas. The Gretna Gateway Outlet Centre is only 20 minutes away by car. The Cumbrian Antiques Centre in Brampton is a wonderful way of shopping for antiques within a unique surrounding.
If you want a totally stress free holiday/break, the local walks around Tarnside are well worth experiencing.
There are a number of good local eateries including the Blacksmith's Arms in Talkin. Whilst relaxing at Tarnside, you can walk to the Tarn . We have 100 acres of land surrounding the farm, our Gallops are all weather and if visitors would like to see the horses out working that's OK.
If you enjoy cycling do bring your bikes, we have a safe shed to store them in while you are here, local fishing at the Tarn and at New Mills Trout Farm, Brampton. We are situated in an ideal place for you to relax and unwind but all amenities are nearby.Racing takes place at Carlisle and Hexham throughout the Winter ,why not book a weekend and have a day at the Races to watch our horses perform !!
From M6 junc 43 take A69 to Brampton,stay on A69 untill you see a right turn for Alston and Hallbankgate A689, half a mile along take right turn to Talkin and Farlam. 1mile to Tarnside Lodges.
