Bass Point House - Dramatic clifftop holiday house
House with 3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6, Garden
Bass Point House is one of the most southerly houses in the UK and is situated on the cliff top commanding panoramic sea views. Originally home to the staff of the nearby Lloyds Signal Station, which in the 19th century was used as a communications centre. Flags were used to send messages between commercial shipping entering or leaving the Channel and the ships' owners.
The front gate of the house opens onto the coast path, offering spectacular cliff walks to nearby Cadgwith or Lizard Point, or maybe just a five minute stroll to the beautiful tidal beach at Housel Bay, where you can also enjoy refreshments at the hotel. Lizard village with its restaurants, pub and shops is within a fifteen minute walk.
Accommodation: A small glass enclosed entrance room provides a peaceful place to contemplate the extensive views across the bay. A cosy sitting room with multi fuel stove, two comfortable sofas, colour TV, video and DVD player also looks out over the sea. Along the book lined corridor you will find the bathroom, with full size enamel bath, wash basin, WC and heated towel rail.
Upstairs, the double bedded room looks out at breathtaking views of water and sky. The two ground floor bedrooms, one with king size bed the other twin beds, both have sea views and are filled with light from skylights in the full height roof, also wonderful for watching the stars as you drop off to sleep at night. The twin room has colour TV. French windows in both these rooms lead straight out onto the front lawn, which appears to be almost suspended above the sea below. Along the passage is the shower room with wash basin, WC, spacious shower and heated towel rail.
The newly modernised large kitchen / dining room with slate floor is provided with electric cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. In the Utility room next to the kitchen you will find the washing machine and dishwasher and butler sink.
Garden: Outside there are many different spots around the grounds provided with benches or seats to sit and enjoy the spectacular sea views and the well stocked garden, with some unusual Mediterranean planting. The front garden is however, unenclosed and is therefore unsuitable for children under five. Parking: 2 spaces.
Heating: Oil fired radiators and under floor heating. Central heating (@ £30.00 extra per week if required), multi-fuel stove. Special Note: Access to the house is along about half a mile of unmade track through a farm, perhaps unsuitable for low-suspension vehicles.
