Albert Cottage 4* - Character seaside weatherboard cottage
Cottage with 3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6, Garden
Albert Cottage, a delightful ancient tarred and weatherboard cottage, dating from 1750 is located in the heart of the unpretentious and unspoilt seaside town of Broadstairs on Thanet's glorious coast.
The town was a holiday home for Charles Dickens, housing the Museum and annual Dickens Festival, plus a wealth of restaurants, quaint flint cottages tucked away in delightful squares and narrow streets, beautiful bays, and steeped in maritime history. As well as the main sweeping wide beach with its golden sand, there are six other bays and splendid clifftops to explore and enjoy.
Located very centrally in the town and only a few minutes walk from the beach, but surprisingly secluded and with its own private garage for guests' use, Albert Cottage is a delightful holiday home of character, yet with new modern kitchen and bathroom facilities. Entrance is into a small hallway with cloaks area. The decor throughout the cottage is blue and white with some beams and many pretty pictures and seaside effects. The very pretty dining room has large dining table and chairs, decorative fireplace with log-effect electric fire, cabinet with games and books. Step down to second hallway off which is the access to a cellar - steep wooden stairs leading down to a warm, dry room with dartboard (ideal for teenagers) and to the left is the compact lounge offering comfortable settees, pouffe, colour TV/video, coffee tables and electric fire.
The well equipped kitchen has coir flooring, pine wall and floor units, pretty colourful wall tiles, full size electric cooker, large fridge/freezer, automatic washing machine, dishwasher and microwave; from here a vestibule with downstairs WC off, leads out to the very attractive cottage style garden and patio. A tumble dryer is available in the outhouse as well as garden tables with chairs and a clothes washing line.
Carpeted stairs - quite steep - lead up to the 3 bedrooms and family bathroom. There is a double bedroom with pine bed, chest of drawers, bedside tables with lamps and fitted wardrobe; twin bedroom with 3ft single beds, bedside tables with lamps, fitted wardrobes and cupboards and an attractive aged decorative fireplace, plus a bunk bedroom with 3ft pine bunk beds, bedside table, chest of drawers and wardrobe. The spacious family bathroom has vinyl flooring, bath with electric shower over, WC, washbasin and shaver light.
