Exclusive, luxurious, special, romantic holiday cottage for 2, or a couple with a child, overlooking the vineyards. New to the rentals market - a single-storey, stone-built 200-year old vineyard worker's cottage with a private courtyard and a garden / terrace over-looking acres of vineyards stretching into the distance. It's located on the edge of the lovely canal-side village of Argens-Minervois and has really fabulous views from the newly-designed garden.
The cottage is fully-renovated and has received the special touch of an interior designer who has reflected the vineyard location in the choice of furnishings and artworks. Yet where it matters in the kitchen, shower room etc, the fittings are modern and of a very high standard. This romantic haven would make a lovely holiday location for a couple celebrating a special occasion or just wanting that very special holiday. If required, a comfortable convertible sofa can be used for sleeping one or two children.
The luxury cottage has one double bedroom with luxury bed-linen, bath robes, a shower area big enough for two, and a separate WC and washbasin. The French windows in the bedroom open out onto the private courtyard with pretty plants and a babbling water feature. The light and airy sitting/dining room and kitchen are all open plan to each other. The sitting area has a convertible sofa (for 2 children) and an upholstered armchair in front of an attractive French wood-burning stove. A custom-built wall unit houses an up-to-date entertainment system including a flat-screen TV (for playing DVDs only), a stereo system and a collection of music and books.
The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen encouraging the free-flow of conversation, wine and food between guests. A 19th century crystal and brass chandelier illuminates a modern Italian glass dining table and 6 Art Deco chairs. The kitchen combines old-world design with smart appliances for those who love to cook whilst on holiday. The French doors from the kitchen also open out onto the private courtyard for easy access to al fresco dining and entertaining.
The private courtyard is a sheltered, romantic spot with pretty planting, a babbling water feature and great lighting. It's a super place for eating 'a deux', entertaining or relaxing in your own space. Doors lead through a barn to the garden. There's a smart, tiled, shaded terrace area with quality dining table and chairs for dining 'with a view'. There are two elegant chaises-longue for relaxing or sun-bathing and an outdoor shower for cooling off.

Local activities in and around Olonzac, Languedoc-Roussillon
The village of Argens-Minervois, dating back to almost 800AD, lies alongside the Canal du Midi, deep in the Minervois wine-producing region. It has a quiet charm with a small grocery/bread shop, a canal-side restaurant open in the summer months and a bar. Ideally situated just 20kms from the lively city of Narbonne and 35kms from the medieval city of Carcassonne with its 52 fairy-tale turrets and 2 rings of fortification - it's a great base for exploring this lovely region. The two local towns of Olonzac and Lezignan Corbieres have supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, butchers, further restaurants etc.
From the cottage, around the village, through the vineyards and alongside the canal are a series of footpaths where you can enjoy walking, picnicking and perhaps bird-watching. Cycling is also great in this area for those of you who like a little more exercise ( a wide range of bikes is available for hire locally). For swimming, you can visit the beaches at the Mediterranean coast, or the specially-created pool in the River Cesse at Bize-Minervois, or at the local Lac du Jouarres. There are tennis courts in the village, but remember to bring your equipment! If you enjoy a round of golf, you can play at Carcassonne or Beziers.
There is much to see and do in this area - but your holiday would not be complete without a trip to Carcassonne, Narbonne and the ancient city of Minerve. You can explore the Cathar castles and the lovely abbeys of Fontfroide and Lagrasse. Children will love the African Nature Reserve near the coast at Sigean or a boat trip on the Canal du Midi.
Restaurants - Argens has a small canal-side restaurant open in the summer months, also a bar. The nearby villages of Roubia and Paraza also have restaurants. Further restaurants are available in Olonzac and Narbonne.
By Car - The village lies to the North West of Narbonne - about 25 minutes by car. Full directions are given upon reservation.
