Located in the High Street just off the main square of the historic, bustling, picturesque, working village of Lenham, this outwardly deceptive holiday accommodation - originally a shop, with origins dating from the 1700s has a very pretty interior with ancient beams and provides a comfortable, well equipped interesting base for touring the Heart of Kent.
Just 9.5 miles from the county town of Maidstone, and equally distanced to Ashford International station and within 10 minutes drive of stunning Leeds Castle. There is a railway station in Lenham for trains to London (1.25 hours) or the coast. Lenham village boasts good pubs, restaurants, hotels and a selection of shops - pharmacy, grocer, baker, butcher, bank, and various antique centres and the Library for internet access.
Free parking is available both directly outside the house and in the village square(limited periods), and free public parking just a few hundred yards away.
Enter directly into the attractive, comfortable lounge with two 2 seater cream settees, an armchair, occasional tables, lamps and bookshelf. Cafe net curtains, vertical blinds and curtains provide privacy at the double windows and front door. A stripped pine door leads to the very pretty dining room with laminate flooring, table, pew seats, additional breakfast table and chairs, character fireplace with coal effect gas fire,colour TV, lamps and a corner stripped pine cupboard.
The compact kitchen which lies off the dining room has a tiled floor, pine dresser and table, brand new electrical equipment by way of an automatic washing machine/drier, slimline dishwasher, full size electric cooker with oven and grill, large fridge with small freezer, microwave and toaster. The back door leads to a compact enclosed prettily planted patio area. To the rear of the kitchen is a small hallway with airing cupboard, clothes hooks and a second doorway to the pretty blue and white bathroom where there is a bath which has a hand held shower, a separate new power shower in a cubicle, washbasin and WC. Via a door in the dining room, curving wooden stairs with a rope handrail - not suitable for the elderly or toddlers - lead up to the first floor.
The spacious master bedroom, beamed and prettily decorated, has a wrought iron canopied double bed, bedside tables and lamps, and a pretty 'Adams' fireplace(not working). On this landing is a separate WC and a linen storage cupboard. The second bedroom, to the rear, can be used as a single, a twin or a double bedroom and also has a wardrobe, bedside table, lamps, a washbasin with bathroom cabinet over.
A second staircase (as before) leads to the upper floor with a delightful single attic bedroom with beamed, sloping ceilings, a single bed, wardrobe, bedside table, wardrobe, separate storage shelves and a pretty decorative fireplace - this room is best suited to a child or teenager.
