Chalet Les Colchiques is a traditional French Alpine chalet in the beautiful village of Essert-Romand, just a 5 minute drive from the lively and well-known town of Morzine and right in the heart of the massive Portes du Soleil ski-area. To maintain it's homely feel and avoid any feeling of overcrowding, we have left the chalet as it was designed - to sleep 7 people comfortably. There are 3 generously sized bedrooms and a spacious living / dining area.
The chalet is surrounded by a balcony / patio on 3 sides, providing breathtaking views of the surroundings. The First Floor comprises the garage which houses one car (there is additional parking for a further 2 cars on the driveway), as well as a boiler room and a ski / snowboard / bike storage room. From the garage there is an internal staircase leading to the second floor.
The second floor of the chalet is open-plan with stunning views of the Alps from all aspects. This floor comprises the kitchen, dining area and living area - all of which have French doors out on the patio / balcony. A garden table and chairs can be found in the garage for you to use outside, should you wish to.
The living area currently has a large sofa, floor cushions and a bean-bag. For your entertainment, there is a TV, DVD player and selection of films, a PS2 with a selection of games, some boardgames, a radio / CD player and a selection of books and magazines. Within the living area is a real log-burning stove, which is perfect for relaxing in front of at the end of an invigorating day in the mountains!
The dining area houses a large solid pine dining table which can seat up to eight people comfortably. There are 6 solid pine chairs and 2 stools - all in typical Savoyarde style. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, four-ring electric hob, worktop oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, filter-coffee maker and all the usual utensils!
The family bathroom is located on this floor and has a basin, bath and over-bath shower. The WC is separate but adjacent to the bathroom. On the third floor are two double bedrooms each with a double bed and wardrobe. There is also a triple bedroom with two bunk-beds and a single bed. All three bedrooms are very generous in size. A second washroom is located on the third floor, which comprises a basin and WC.

Proximity to Ski / Mountain-Biking Areas; The chalet is about a 5-minute drive from the popular and lively town of Morzine, which has direct links into the massive skiing areas of Les Portes du Soleil. The chalet is also just a short drive from the well-known Les Gets, Avoriaz, Linderet and St. Jean D'Aulps areas.
During the summer months, most of the skiing areas within and around Morzine are opened up for Mountain Biking and hiking.
Bus Service: During the winter / ski-season, the Balad'Aulps bus company runs a service into Morzine. There are 2 routes (one from Les Gets and one from St. Jean D'Aulps). The St. Jean D'Aulps line passes through Essert Romand, where there are 3 stops. The closest stop is about a 30 second walk from the chalet. The service costs 1 Euro per ride.
Nearby Locations; If you fancy a day out and about, there are many nearby towns worth a visit. Chamonix is approximately 1 hours drive from Essert-Romand / Morzine and is easily accessed via the 'Autoroute Blanche'. Chamonix has a wide range of shops and also the fantastic 'Aguille du Midi' cable car which takes you to the top of Mont Blanc, with it's breathtaking views.
The beautiful town of Evian Les Bains, with the world-famous Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) is also within easy access of Morzine. The town of Thonon-Les-Bains is also nearby, which is good for shopping. Thonon also has a 'beach' area (Thonon Plage) from where you can take boat trips across Lake Geneva to Evian.
These towns, and many more, are definitely worth a visit!

Rental Notes: The chalet is available for rental on a self-catering basis, all year round. Prices are based on renting the chalet on a weekly-basis and include electricity, bed-linen and towels.
We generally run the chalet on a Sunday to Sunday basis. However, alternative start / end days can sometimes be arranged - please feel free to contact us to discuss this.
