Large villa situated just 350m from the beach and the centre of the resort of Praia das Maçãs. Originally built as a traditional summer retreat for a large Lisbon family, it is set in its own private grounds with a family sized-pool, changing room, large patio/barbeque area and lawn. Features second floor 25 sq m south facing sun terrace with views east to the Sintra hills through 180° to the sea.
Refurbished and redecorated in June 2008 to a high standard (ie all new bathrooms and shower rooms with facilities using solar hot water) whilst retaining a traditional portuguese look and feel.

This villa is ideal for a large family group and/or friends, accommodating up to 12 people in 3 double bedrooms, and 3 twin bedrooms.
Ground floor features: Large entrance hall with original red tiled floor, furnished with couch and side chairs, decorated in a traditional style. Large double lounge furnished with 3 sofas, dining table, coffee table. Satellite TV and DVD player. French doors open out onto small patio with seating area over-looking the lawn. Large dining room decorated with traditional Portuguese tiles. Table and chairs to seat up to 12; Fully-kitted original fitted kitchen utility/breakfast room - all decorated to high standard in a fusion of traditional and modern taste. A private double bedroom with ensuite shower-room (formally the maid's room). A separate master bathroom off the main hallway completes the downstairs layout.
On the first floor we have 5 bedrooms, all of which open on to a large landing area. The 2nd double bedroom with ensuite shower-room and the twin room with ensuite bathroom open on to the 25 sq m sun terrace with stunning views - east to the Sintra hills, south across the green river valley and west to the sea and sandy beach, The balcony is an all day sun trap. The 3rd double room has a small balcony (6 sq m) overlooking the lawn and with a seaview to the setting sun in the west. The 2 other twins are on the east side and get the early morning sun. All these rooms share a separate shower-room with WC and the master bathroom downstairs.
Outside on the patio there are sun lounges, sun shades, tables and chairs for relaxing by the pool. With the built-in barbeque guests can enjoy al fresco dining by the pool. Poolside shower and changing room with shower and facilities. The large lawn (shaded afternoon/evenings) can be used for relaxing or playing games.

Situated on the west coast of Portugal, just north of Lisbon, Praia das Maçãs is only 12km from the exquisitely beautiful world heritage site town of Sintra which boasts amongst it’s major attractions, the Moorish castle and the fairy-tale like Palácio da Pena (Pena Palace). There is also easy access to Lisbon itself, the famous casino in Estoril, or the beautiful marina and beaches at Cascais.
Within 3 minutes walking distance of the villa is the summer Lido with its Olympic-sized swimming pool with water slide; a children's playground; Tennis courts and 5-a-side pitch. Across the road is the covered morning market selling everything from fresh fish, vegetables, freshly grilled chicken to beachwear and toys. Its just 5 minutes from the villa to the fabulous fine sandy beach (supervised by lifeguards in the summer season) If it's too quite and there's not enough action, Praia Grande, the surfer's beach is 20 minutes via a cliff walk or 5 minutes in the car. At the centre of the village all the main fish restaurants, bars, brasseries and cafes - some overlook the beach with seaviews west to the setting sun. A pizza restaurant, bakers, grocer, a fine butcher, Vintage tram terminus to Sintra and bus stops all centrally located.
What ever your looking for, the choices are endless for holiday activities, culture and entertainment - everything you will need for everybody in your party to have a wonderful family holiday.
There is easy access to Praia das Maçãs from Lisbon airport on the IC19 (we will send you detailed routes and maps once you've booked). A taxi ride would cost you about 50 euros on a Saturday.
