This is the perfect country retreat for walkers and lovers of the 'Heartbeat' countryside. Grosmont is a lively village famous for its steam trains and many traditional events. The Station Tavern, 5 minutes walk from the Villa, serves excellent beer and home cooked food which can be enjoyed outside while savouring the ambience. There are cafes which serve coffee and newspapers creating a friendly atmosphere in the village.
The villa, set besides 6 acres of private woodlands, is very secluded although so near the village centre. The terraced garden overlooks the fields and tree covered landscape and forms a sheltered area to enjoy eating out on the large picnic bench. The driveway is large and can easily accommodate 6 cars.
There are 3 double bedrooms on the first floor each containing their own shower. There is a toilet and basin also on the first floor. The ground floor has a traditional Victorian tiled hall leading to 2 reception rooms and a large kitchen which leads to a toilet and a scullery. The kitchen is fully-equipped French-style with an Aga, stainless steel sink and a large dining table and original flagstones. The views stretch across the trees down into the valley. The scullery is equipped with large washing and drying machines and butler sink. The reception rooms comprise of a south-facing morning room with log burning stove and a cosy sitting room with leather couches, TV and Yotul log burning stove set in a white marble fireplace.

Local activities in and around Whitby, Yorkshire
Grosmont is a pretty village in the heart of countryside walks. The picturesque River Esk, famous for its salmon and trout fishing, winds through the village. It is home to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Society with museums and attractive eating areas. Steams trains go from Grosmont to Pickering and Whitby. Whitby, 6 miles away, is famous for it's Abbey which dates back to 600 AD and the many historic churches and houses which enrich the area. Horseriding available nearby.
There is the beautiful, working fishing harbour. Fresh seafood is excellent and also the renowned smoked kippers from Fortune's in Church Street. Many restaurants, such as the Magpie Cafe, Trenchers and Bagdale Old Hall, have become famous for their cuisine and location. The beaches are spectacular and the sea offers a refreshingly cool swim! There is a lovely golf course overlooking the bar and a large sailing marina. Watersports available.
Nearby villages such as Staithes, Runswick Bay, Robin Hood's Bay are set along the stunning coastline and Goathland and Lealholm are among the many villages which nestle in the rolling landscape of the Yorkshire moors.
Steam Trains
Grosmont village is the home of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Society. Grosmont Villa overlooks the steam trains as they travel through the picturesque valley. Museums and enthusiasts abound.
Take A64 to York/Scarborough Junction with the A1(M) then the A169 to Pickering. Continue towards Whitby for 10 miles. Grosmont is signposted on the left. Take left fork. Villa is 100 yds on left.
