Local activities in and around Denia, Costa Blanca - Alicante
The town of Orba is a 5 minute drive from the house and has several bars & restaurants both Spanish & English, banks, bakers and a couple of small supermarkets as well as a traditional market on a Wednesday. The neighbouring Jalon Valley is famous for its wine and Saturday rastro and offers a wealth of attractions including horse riding, walking, golf and scenic mountain drives. There are a large number of restaurants to choose from in the surrounding villages of Tormos, Sagra, Alcalali and Parcent - all offering excellent value for money with 'menu del dia' from approx 8 Euros per head including bread and wine. Many other villages of the Orba and Jalon Valleys can be easily reached within 10 mins drive. They all have interesting characteristics, combined with plenty of restaurants offering Spanish & International cuisine, large Mas y Mas supermarket, small English supermarkets, bakeries & butchers, newsagents, English Hairdressers and Beauty Salons,local cafes, English bars and Spanish Tapas bars.
Other places of interest in the area are A 5* paragliding school in Parcent village and paragliding from the mountain (Coll de rates), only a 15 minute drive from the villa. There is also the Donkey sanctuary in the mountains toward Bernia where one can offer support for the project by indulging in an incredible lunchtime feast with amazing views where all profits go towards the well being of the donkeys and of course the famous mountain spring and walks on the Serra Bernia, only 15 minutes drive away. Around 50 minutes drive away are the famous theme parks of Benidorm, including Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, and Aqualandia Water Park & Wild Life Park. Historic Guadalest and the famous water pools and waterfalls are just 30 mins drive away. The area around the villa is particularly good for walkers/hikers, cycling, bird watching and sight seeing. In addition to the Paragliding there is Quad Biking, Go Karting and an Outdoor Pursuits Centre.
