El Teixu offers a comfortable holiday home far from the maddening crowds. It is at the end of a 7km climb up a paved(2.5Km) and then unmade road (4.5Km). You will love the sensation of being on top of the world.
The cottage is spacious with all the details that make a place seem worthwhile. The stone walls are exposed throughout the house and along with its wooden floors and windows it has a refined sense of the rustic. The view from the master bedroom is spectacular. The main portion of the house is all on one floor with access up some outside steps. There is a large sleeping loft over the living room with 2 single beds and the master bedroom is spacious with an en-suite bathroom complete with shower massage cabin. The living room, dining area and kitchen are all in one large open room, well distributed and beautifully decorated with a combination of antiques and modern furniture. The fireplace warms the entire house easily in cold weather and solar panels provide more than enough hot water.
Teixidiello is a higland village once inhabited by "Los Vaqueiros", cattlemen who abandoned their mountain homes in the 60"s to work in the rising industrial areas or simply farm in the valleys below. Time has left this hamlet unspoilt and the possibilities for walking, birdwatching, animal photographing, brook swimming are endless.
For the restless, just 7Kms downhill begins civilization and the wealth of bars, restaurants, shopping and summer activities available on the coast.

Real Fire, House Linen, Towels Provided. The cottage has been lovingly furnished and provided for by Ana. Anything you find you need simply ask.All linens are provided with the house. Firewood provided. GPRS internet coverage. Bring modem.
Dining:
Seating for 6. The Dining area is a part of the main living room and kichen plan. The kitchen table extends to accomodate 6+ people. You will find the house well equipped for 8.
Entertainment:
Terrestrial TV, Satellite TV, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games. This cottage is equipped for your enjoyment. Wireless internet access is availble if you have your own GPRS (3G) wireless modem. Bring your own books since you will want to relax and read.
Outside:
Terrace, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Garden Furniture. El Teixu has a lovely patio down the outside steps between itself and La Bouza, the other cottage available. Just outside the frontdoor is a grassy BBQ/picnic area with shade trees.

The mountain road to Teixidiello should not deter anyone from enjoying such a special and beautiful place. We recommend you take the last 4.5 kms slowly so as to enjoy the beauty of the ascent.
Local activities in and around Cudillero, North West
Locally, from the cottage, we encourage you to partake in walking, bird and animal watching, plant gathering, brook swimming and sunbathing. However, when the need arises, in fifteen minutes you can find yourself on sandy beaches, in local restaurants, shopping, etc.
Both Cudillero and Luarca are the closest port towns of size and they each offer different varieties of activities, gastronomy and shopping opportunities.
San Martin is your first point of contact as you come down the mountain and there you have 2 good restaurants, a bakery, a chemist, a surgery, a deisel station and a post office with early morning hours. Market day in San Martin is Tuesday until 1pm.
Horseback Riding is offered locally in Lamuņo.
Your nearest sandy beach, San Pedro, (10KMs) offers all services, lifeguard, two snack-bars, showers and parking. We encourage you to investigate the numerous beaches in the area, some sandy and some pebble, some secluded and others popular.
Asturias is known for its surf so bring your board or rent one in San Juan de La Arena or Gijon.
Natural Parks abound in Asturias. From Teixidiello you are on the protected coastline of Western Asturias and within an easy drive to Somiedo Natural Park where the largest population of brown bears co-habitates with vultures and a variety of flora and fauna to include the local cattlemen.
Train Travel in Spain with RENFE
Renfe is Spain's national train company and FEVE is the narrow guage train the runs along the whole northern coast.
Easyjet will bring you to Asturias, Bilbao and Madrid with a flight from there to Asturias all from London's Stansted Airport. We are about 35 minutes from the Asturian Airport (OVD).
GPS North 43.30458/ West 6.14598. The road to El Teixu leaves from San Martin de Luiņa. Directions will be sent upon confirmation of your reservation.

Rental Notes: Note: While a 4 wheel drive vehicle is not necessary, if you have one we encourage you to bring it. The road up to Teixidiello is unmade and in some places steep. If renting a car we recommend the smaller front wheel drive models. The first time up can feel long but what you find at the top is well worth the effort. This hideaway is not for everyone.
A welcome pack consisting of wine, bread, milk, marmelades, coffee and teas will be provided upon arrival.
Change over dates are flexible however during the high season we ask that check in time be after 4pm and check out at 10:30 am. Check with Ana about departure times is you would like to lay in your last day.
