The parish of Mountfield with its ancient church is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and lies approximately halfway between Battle and Robertsbridge. Historic Battle, about 10 minutes'drive, is famous for its Abbey and offers good local shopping and other attractions.The pretty town of Robertsbridge, with its shops and pubs, is only a few minutes'drive. Both towns have mainline stations with direct services to London and the coast.
The owners of this charming cottage, already boasting well planted gardens, are developing a woodland garden, a grasses and flower meadow, and a small nursery specialising in trees, shrubs, and perennials, many of rare species. Ample parking is available beside the owners' garage which neighbours the adjoining cottage. Access to the cottage is to the side which ensures privacy. Enter directly into the quarry tiled, modern fully fitted kitchen with pine wall and floor storage cupboards, full size electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, automatic washing machine/drier and larder storage. Door through to the dining room/library with polished wooden floors, feature brick chimney breast, oak table and chairs, and library shelving across the end wall.The cosy sitting room comfortably furnished with armchairs, wall lighting,colour TV/video, DVD, CD player, occasional tables and many pretty extras has a large brick-built inglenook fireplace with woodburning stove. A hairdryer is available for guests' use.
The gently sloping gardens - not suitable for the elderly or toddlers,include a copse, lawns, flower meadow and formal gardens. There are both sunny and shady area, barbecue, table and chairs. There are seats around the property providing glorious views across the rolling countryside. The woods and fields surrounding the property are laced with footpaths and rights of way and there is coarse fishing in season on the Darwell Reservoir just down the lane.
