New for 2009, take advantage of cheaper off peak travel, start your holiday on the day of your choice and arrive anytime between 9am and 10pm. Minimum stay 5 days. No rush to leave on the day of your departure, leave when you are ready. We allow a minimum of 3 days between bookings in order to mainatain a high standard of cleanliness.
Enjoy peace and tranquility in our rural former fishing lodge on the mill island surrounded by the river Auxance and the mill stream. There is a large south facing sun deck overlooking the river and a private garden area. We are only 5 minutes from the village of Latille where you will find a bank with cash machine, 2 bakers, post office, butcher, pharmacy and a Spar to cover most needs.
Set in the heart of the countryside with lots of wildlife to see, including Kigfishers, Heron, Red Squirels, Coypu and many other species of birds and butterflies.
Tourist attractions include:- Futoroscope, theme park of the moving image with amazing rides, simulators and a spectacular evening laser light display, Puy de Fou theme park, the Valley de Singes where you can walk in and take part in feeding among over 300 monkeys living free.
Quiet roads make visiting La Rochelle and the Atlantic coast, Loire Chateau or the Marais Poitevin national park an easy day trip.
The cities of Poitiers and Parthenay are both a short drive away with excellent shopping and restaurants.
There are 2 excellent outdoor swimming pools nearby, one at Vouillé (10 kms) and one at Sanxay (16 kms).
For golfers, there are 6 courses within easy driving distance. The nearest is Chateau des Forges (15 kms).
If you enjoy fishing, at Ayron (5 kms) there is a large fishing lake with a bar/restaurant. There are many other rivers and fishing lakes nearby including the Pescalis complex.
For motor sport enthusiasts, there is the Circuit de Val de Vienne (75 kms).
Or you could just relax on the south facing sun deck or in the private garden with a barbeque of fresh local produce.
Wired Broadband (ADSL) internet access is available free of charge. (Bring your own laptop computer).
Resident owners on site to assist if needed, both English and French spoken. Local activities include cycling, fishing, golf, horse riding, swimming, tennis and walking. (Bicycles available)
Facilities for this holiday cottage in Vouillé, Charente/Vendee/W. Loire
1 Double Bedroom, 1 Twin Bedroom. The Gite sleeps 2 adults in the double bedroom, plus 2 children (or a third adult) in adult size bunk beds in the second bedroom. Hypoallergenic pillows and duvets with French cotton covers provided.
Bathrooms:
1 Bathroom. Full size bath with shower over. Towels, toilet paper etc provided but please bring your own swimming towels.
Kitchen:
Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer, Washing Machine, Iron. The oven is electric and the hob gas + one electric ring. An electric kettle, washing powder, washing up liquid, dish cloth (new for each visitor) and kitchen roll are also provided.
General:
Central Heating, House Linen, Towels Provided, Internet Access. Central heating is included in the price. A portable airconditioner is available on request for a small additional charge.
Dining:
Seating for 4. Four people can eat in comfort in the kitchen/diner or on the sun deck accessed from the kitchen.
Entertainment:
Satellite TV, Video, DVD, Radio, CD System. English satellite television and radio plus a VHS video recorder and a DVD/CD player. Free ADSL (Broadband) wired Internet access.
Outside:
Garden, BBQ, Parking, Balcony, Garden Furniture. The cottage and sun deck are built 1.5 metres above ground level affording a good view of the river and surroundings.
Suitability:
Children Welcome, Not Suitable For Wheelchairs, Not Suitable For Elderly, Sorry - No Pets Allowed, Sorry - No Smokers.
It is not suitable for disabled visitors due to the bathroom access. Children will need special supervision near the river and sluice gates.
We have 2 Border Collies kept well away from visitors.

For golfers, there are 6 courses within easy driving distance. The nearest is Chateau Des Forges, 9 + 18 holes, driving range, a resident professional and a very good bar/restaurant, occasionally with weekend entertainment. Poitiers boasts the impressive Le Manoir de Beauvoir 18 holes and a top class restaurant. Other courses are: St Cyr; Roche Posey; Loudon and Mazières en Gâtine plus fishing, riding, walking and many tourist attractions.

A £200 pound security deposit is required in the form of a cheque that normally wil not be cashed.
Out of season bookings by arrangement. good rates for long lets of 1 month or more.
Access to the property is via a footbridge across the mill stream from the parking area. Alternate access by car is possible across a private bridge over the river in dry weather by arrangement.
