Podere in Farneta is ideal for people wanting a relaxing holiday away from it all. The mountains are extraordinary and the farm gets almost all day sunshine. Visitors are able to enjoy themselves lounging, dipping in the pool, walking, reading, playing boules. The owners make their own wine and olive oil and also cook typical local dishes for visitors on request.
Consisting of an independent cottage and separate mini-apartment, Il Podere is good for an extended family where people can enjoy being together but also have their own privacy.

The property consists of the farmhouse and a small separate cottage, with the pool (6x4x1.5mtrs) between them as shown in the photo. The mini-apartment is within the farmhouse but is completely separate with its own private entrance and terrace. The owners sometimes stay in the farmhouse, however they are busy working local people who are keen that visitors should have a good holiday. They will always respect visitors' privacy.
The cottage was a former 'metato' where sweet chestnuts were dried. Visitors walk straight into the kitchen complete with dining table and stone fireplace. There is also a bathroom, with shower, on the ground floor. Upstairs is a double bedroom with a second, twin bedroom off. Here the ceiling slopes, as it is under the eaves, making it more suitable as a children's room. The 'metato' has been restructured to a high standard with terracotta floors downstairs and chestnut wood beams. Outside there is a patio area for lounging and eating out.
The separate mini-apartment consists of a good size double bedroom with shower room and toilet off, and a small kitchen. There is also room for a child's cot.

Previous visitors to Podere in Farneta have enjoyed a mixture of rest and relaxation, pottering around the farm, swimming, eating (see below) and walking in the beautiful local landscape, along with sightseeing in Lucca and the surrounding villages (easily accessible by car). Even Florence is possible.
Eating: Gourmet cooking by the owner at very reasonable prices. Restaurants a short drive away. Wine: The owners produce good wine and are keen for visitors to sample it. Walking: Excellent. Thermal Baths: The spa at Bagni di Lucca is only 8kms away. Hot baths, massage, cures available. Bikes: The owner can provide mountain bikes as an extra. Distances: Lucca 30kms, Florence 97kms, Pisa 50kms.
