The house sits on the edge of a small village which is surrounded by beautiful woodland, green lanes and the delightful River Benaize. The focus of the well-equiped kitchen is a very long table which comfortably seats up to 10 people. It has a fridge/freezer, washing machine, gas cooker and excellent table football! The salon is a charming and very comfortable room with a very effective wood-burning stove, sofas and music system. Upstairs there is a very large bedroom with double and single beds, two other double bedrooms and a bathroom with bath and shower. The garden is bordered by part-time french neighbours, fields and a 19 century barn home to barn and tawny owls. It is very peaceful with plenty of room to relax, bird watch or play various games. We provide linen and logs for a small additional charge.

Local activities in and around Coulonges, Charente/Vendee/W. Loire
Very local to the house are numerous green lanes for walking and cycling and the River Benaize for fishing. Within a ten minute drive you can find lake swimming with small boats, beach, water slide and raft. Tennis is available in many nearby villages, golf half an hour away and also several larger river and lake swimming centres. The Brenne National Park is a large area of interest with museum, visitors centre and bird watching trails. Futuroscope is a 50 minute drive. One of the delights of this area is to search out the many small churches with ancient frescoes, abbeys, castles and Romanesque architecture, all hidden amongst the 17 centuary Oak woodlands and numerous rural hamlets and medieval villages.
