Offa's Dyke can be seen from the house and is just one of the many marked trails to explore nearby, which include the Jack Mytton Way and the Kerry Ridgeway. Walk all day and not see a soul and then enjoy a drink back at the village pub. A couple of miles away is Clun with its castle ruins, shops and pubs. The local small towns of Bishop's Castle and Montgomery offer cafes and shops and nooks and crannies to explore. South is the hisotirc market town of Ludlow. Complete with castle and beautiful walks by the river Teme, it is famous for its food shops and restaurants. North is the city of Shrewsbury, Brother Cadfael country, and here you will find larger shops and a great wine merchant - Tanners. Closer to home is Church Stretton, gateway to the uplands of the Long Mynd, formed from ancient volcanoes and where a herd of ponies roam free. The English Marches become the Welsh hills and mountains; another country on the doorstep. Explore the beauty of the Elan valley and its dams, or take the mountain road across to the Welsh coast.
