Local activities in and around Diss, East of England
The Waveney Valley and Weybread Pits are known for the fishing lakes and walks through unspoilt countryside. The very small market town of Harleston is 4 miles away with many speciality shops and independant traders - shopping here is like going back in time with old-fashioned service but equally everything is available. The larger towns of Diss, Bungay, Beccles and Halesworth are nearby with the Cities of Norwich and Ipswich located 30 miles away.
The beaches and harbours of Southwold and Walberswick are mostly sandy and remain as they were many, many years ago. Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth are further away and although far more 'touristy' have lovely sandy beaches.
Snape Maltings with the famous Benjamin Britten Concert Hall are within easy reach.
The Weybread Crown is next door but one to the cottage and is known for it's good, wholesome food and every other Wednesday evening has an open mke 'Busking Evening' when many of the locals come and play their instruments and sing - all for free!
Many pubs in this area have lots of free entertainment usually of the musical kind, but also with quizzes, at which all are welcomed.
The Fox and Goose Restaurant in Fressingfield is reknowned for it's exceptional food and reasonably priced.
There are many well signposted walks in the area.
from the A140 onto the A143 direction of Great Yarmouth, for 9 miles to roundabout Go straight over and after 500 metres take the right hand turning sign posted Weybread find Pub then cottage!
