This charming traditional cottage borders the levé e which runs alongside the Loire and has lovely views of the Loire River which can be seen from the roadside before you descend via a traditional staircase (gated at the bottom) to the gardens and house. The cottage is located in a small village within 15 minutes of Saumur.
The living accommodation comprises of lounge with TV, DVD, the kitchen/dining area has a fridge, cooker, microwave, dishwasher, and washing machine. There are two comfortable double bedrooms and a cot is also available on request; the bedrooms are traditional in build being one bedroom leads into the other. (one of the bedrooms has a separate toilet and washbasin).
The cottage is furnished with a mix of traditional and antique furniture yet still retaining comfort The thick walls keep the property cool in summer and warm in winter. There is also the advantage of central heating for the cooler months of winter and early spring. (Local charge for heating) Original beams have been retained throughout the property adding to the quaintness of this quite lovely cottage. Step through the rear door from the kitchen and discover a shaded private garden filled with flowers and with table, chairs and barbecue. In the height of summer this is the perfect spot for enjoying a cool glass of local wine and in the evening to savour a long alfresco meal.
The front of the house has a garden filled with fruit trees, guests are invited to sample any of the fruits. Just a short walk takes you to one of two boulongeries in the village, where you can buy bread and croissants baked freshly throughout the day. The village also boasts a bar/restaurant serving meals both at some lunch times and occasional evenings.

Local activities in and around Saumur, Charente/Vendee/W. Loire
The local town has restaurants, bars and a number of shops all within walking distance of the cottage. Being in the heart of the historic parc national the cottage is close to many sites of historic interest from Gallio Roman through to the magnificent and romantic chateaux for which this area is justly famous.
The Loire Valley wine route is on the doorstep and guests are able to visit many of the local wineries to sample and buy produce directly from the producer. History, culture, good wine and fabulous food can all be found in this glorious area. The local people are remarkably friendly and you will be greeted courteously wherever you go.
There is something for people of all ages, FUTURSCOPE, which appeals to 'children' age 2 to 100 years old. Quite wonderful conservation zoos, rose gardens, river trips, horse riding, golf and much more, which is why visitors to this region return year after year, finding something new on each visit. There is an open air swimming pool in Saumur as well as canoeing and lots of other sports. Saumur is the home of the world famous Cadre Noir riding school, which is well worth a visit.
