In a living Greek fishing village where the fishermen bring in their catch every morning this tranquil place has no nightlife other than restaurants and coffee houses of which there are several within a few minutes walk of the house. Despite this, the house and its little garden is in a quiet backwater and not at all disturbed.
The restaurants serve home-cooked food and cater for vegetarians well as well as fish and meat eaters. There is no need to cook at all as breakfast, lunch and dinner are all within a 2-5 minute walk. The house is large and well modernised with dishwasher and washing machine - perfect for a relaxing break. Bicycles are available to hire nearby but there is also a local bus travelling to local beaches and villages.

The house is part of an old Captain's house which would not normally be found available to rent. It has been beautifully renovated with no expense spared, in the last few years.
There is a large, fully-equipped kitchen/dining room with open fire, a living room which doubles as a second (twin) bedroom and a shower room with separate wc on the ground floor. The kitchen opens out onto the small private garden with a dining table under the shade of an umbrella. There are areas for sunbathing as well as shade and a small barbeque if you prefer eating in.
Upstairs is the enormous main bedroom with ensuite bathroom and separate double shower and washbasins. There is a large ceiling fan over the bed in case of a heatwave and another open fire for winter nights. The house also has full central heating. All the linen, towels, plates and cutlery for your stay are included as are services, such as water and electricity.
Although it is in the centre of the village this house is in a peaceful backwater yet within flat walking distance of several tavernas and the sea and just a 10 minute walk to the beach at Pantazi.

The garden is small but private with sun and shade. A large sun umbrella is also provided.

There are steps up to the front door and in the garden which may not be suitable for the infirm. Steep stone steps lead to the upper bedroom but there is a full handrail.
Local activities in and around Kalamata, Peloponnesus
This is a place for relaxing, swimming, walking, bird watching, reading and painting. There are also locally organised trips to some of the Ancient Sites - Messini, Mystras, Olympia, Diros Caves.
Walking in the mountains - for the reasonably fit - is on waymarked paths or with the help of a local guide. Swimming from the rocks in several places is within a 2 - 5 minute walk. The beach is a lkm flat walk where there is a little snack bar under the shade of the tamarisk trees.
Bicycles can be hired if you are feeling energetic. There is also a local bus running all year and a beach bus in the season which allows trips to other local beaches and villages nearby.
From Athens it is a 4 hour drive; the direction is Elefsina, Corinth, Tripolis, Megalopolis, Kalamata (local airport), Kardamili, Aghios Nicolaos. Exact details will be given once a booking is made.

Rental Notes: Changeover days are normally on Sunday from May to October. We may be able to be more flexible, depending upon bookings taken.
A £300 deposit is required on booking and the rental is due four weeks before the start of the rental period. Long summer lets are possible with a 10% discount for 3+ weeks.
All payments must be made in pounds sterling. Winter rates are quoted including discount - this is for one month or more, only.
