Almyrida Villa and Cottage is a lovely property which enjoys an elevated position on the top of a hill with absolutely stunning views of Souda Bay, The Akrotiri Peninsula, the White Mountains, and numerous small villages including Plaka, Kambia, Kalives and Kokkino Horio. Despite the “top of the world” location that you may never want to leave, this villa and the adjacent cottage are only a few minutes by foot to the taverna and mini market in the village centre. The villa and completely self-contained cottage always rent as one property in order to ensure privacy.
This lovely villa is a perfect retreat for relaxing, with the fabulous pool terrace and its infinite sea views being the most prominent feature of the property, and the best place from which to enjoy the gorgeous sunsets.

The design of the villa has been carefully thought out in order to bring your living area into the outdoors, so that you can fully appreciate the outstanding views at all times. Therefore there are many terraces for both sun and shade, and an ample supply of garden furniture such as tables, chairs, umbrellas and sun-loungers. The pool terrace is surrounded by a low natural stone wall, and railings with a gate which can stop the younger members of the family from accessing the pool without supervision. For “children” both young and old, the English owner has thoughtfully included a Games Room in the garage area, with table tennis, table football and a pool table.
Both the spacious house and the cottage have been simply but comfortably furnished in typically Cretan style, with wooden furniture that has been made locally, and matching wood windows, doors, shutters, and kitchen cabinets. Dotted around the villa are traditional Greek clay pots and lamps on plinths. All modern conveniences have been supplied including a large surround sound TV in the villa, a DVD player, a dishwasher and a washing machine, a BBQ, and air conditioning units in the bedrooms, The a/c units also double up as heaters for the cooler nights early and late season.
There is solar powered hot water or a back-up immersion heater. The majority of the large one acre garden has been left completely natural with rocks, olive and almond trees. Around the house and terraces, there are gravelled paths and many flowerbeds with a multitude of flowers and trees, including, oleander, roses, juniper, bougainvillea, camellia, geraniums and lavender.

The Apokoronas area is just east of the beautiful, historic Venetian city of Chania and includes the beach villages of Almerida and Kalives, the traditional villages of Plaka, Vamos, Gavalohori, Kokkino Horio, and country villages such as Kefalas and Litsarda. From the myriad blues of the clear, calm, ever changing Mediterranean seas, the clean white, sandy beaches, the white Lefka Ori mountains, with the longest gorge in Europe, lush silver-green olive and orange groves, the scent of wild thyme and majestic pine trees surrounding unspoilt villages, even the occasional donkey - Crete has it all.
The approximate drive time from Chania International Airport is 45 minutes. From Heraklion, where it is possible to get cheaper flights, the transfer time is approximately 110 - 120 minutes.
