Chateau D’Avaray is set in its own grounds of 17 hectares. Passing through the main gates there is a short driveway leading to the chateau. The chateau is surrounded by a moat and is a U shaped building with a central courtyard. Entry to the courtyard is via a bridge across the moat.
Our apartment is on the first floor and is approx. 110 sq. metres. The ceiling height is approx. 4.4 metres which gives a very gracious feel to the main living room and the master bedroom.
The kitchen is fully equipped with Oven, hob, American style fridge/freezer, dish washer, washing machine, microwave, coffee maker and a toaster.
The living room is furnished with both modern and antique furnishings and has a beautiful large (and working) fireplace. There is a TV, DVD/Video player and piped television (French channels).
Sleeping accommodation consists of a 2 en-suite bedrooms, master bedroom has a double bed, 2nd bedroom has 2 singles plus the library room has a double bed settee.

The towers in Chateau D'Avaray were originally built in the 13th Century. In the 17th century the current chateau was constructed and was home to the Duc D'Avaray. The Duc was given the grounds as a reward for his loyalty to the King. The chateau changed owners a number of times during the intervening centuries and was occupied up to the late 1950s when it was sold to a developer who split it into 20 apartments.
Our apartment is approximately 1200 sq. feet. On entering the apartment you come into a small hallway leading into the bathroom and then on to the kitchen area. From the kitchen you go through to the main living room (approx. 30' by 25') with a ceiling height of 4.4 metres. This room is a very elegant and gracious
From the living room you go on to a small hallway where there is a stairway leading up to a double room furnished with two single beds. This bedroom is in a mezzanine and has its own bathroom opposite. On the ground floor level there is a very bright library room which has a bed settee. The very spacious en-suite master bedroom is built extremely spacious and has french doors leading on to a small balcony.
Sleeping accomodation consists of a double room with two single beds, the Master Bedroom has a double bed and the library room has a double bed settee Both bedrooms are en-suite and there is also a bathroom with a bath / shower.

The apartment is on the first floor and does not have a lift. The master bedroom has French doors leading to a small balcony overlooking the mote which could be dangerous for young children.
Local activities in and around Blois, Loire/Centre
The chateau is ideally placed as a base for both visiting the very many chateaux of the Loire and also for wine tasting. Avaray is just 12 kms from the most famous and spectacular chateau of all which is Chambourd.
From Paris you get on to the A10 motorway heading to Tours. Take exit 16 Chambourd and Avaray is just 4 kms away on the R752 in the direction of Orleans.

Rental Notes: The apartment is available all year round. The price quoted is inclusive of all charges for electricity, hot water etc.
All bed linen, towels etc are provided and are changed on a weekly basis. Maid service is not included.
Low season is October to Easter week High Season starts at Easter and goes to the end of September. The Christmas and New Year periods are also considered high season.
Rentals are generally for periods of 1 week or more, however, we may consider shorter rentals in low season.
