East Cliff occupies the top three floors of a large Georgian house built around 1700. Each room has stunning views either across the Teign Estuary to Teignmouth and along the coast or to the rear garden. It is conveniently situated across the road from the beach and literally a few yards from Shaldon beach and the sea.
It is just a minute’s walk from Shaldon village with its old pubs, restaurants and independent shops which include a butcher, which has daily special offers, a post office, newsagent, chandlery, women’s boutique, a couple of art galleries and The Smallest Shop in Shaldon, selling gifts and craftwork.
There is a good choice of cafes, both in the village and on the Strand overlooking the beach, and you can walk along to the Ness and the Tunnels Beach, which was said to be a haven for smugglers a few hundred years ago. Shaldon Wildlife Park is said to be one of the smallest zoos in the country.
August sees the Shaldon Regatta and the duck race, when hundreds of yellow ducks are released on The Strand to bob along the Teign Estuary. A regular ferry runs all year round across the Teign Estuary to Teignmouth where you will find a lively seaside town bursting with cafes, bars, restaurants and attractions.

Local activities in and around Teignmouth, South West
Shaldon The area is well served by the A38, providing easy access to Newton Abbot, Exeter, Dartmoor and the numerous attractions of South Devon.
Shaldon is a picturesque village positioned on the banks of the River Teign on the opposite bank to Teignmouth. This peaceful location offers relaxing strolls along the river bank to the village centre where you will find pubs, local shops and restaurants.
Teignmouth is a historic old port and traditional seaside town at the estuary of the River Teign. It has the activity of a working port, with large ships, fishing vessels and pleasure craft travelling between sea and estuary. The seaward side of the town features an elegant crescent of Georgian buildings and a promenade that, alongside the beach, stretches the length of the town and boasts a Victorian pier. The estuary side of the town is a lively place of fishing boats, beach huts and waterside inns, with the village of Shaldon just across the water.
Bishopsteignton is two miles inland with panoramic views across the river to rolling hills. Again pastel fronted houses line the narrow streets winding up to the small museum, open during the summer, while village pubs and shops retain all the charm and character you could hope for.
