The striking hillside Chateau de Cassenac is located in the Perigord Noir region, near Bordeaux, and boasts truly stunning views of the Dordogne valley and the confluence of the Dordogne and Vezere rivers that slice through the swathes of lush green countryside.
The Chateau de Cassenac is an idyllic location for relaxing with friends or family, but is also ideally positioned for those that want to further explore the region. The Chateau de Cassenac is warm and sumptuous and has enough room for up to 24 guests. Also within the grounds are 2 gites that can sleep up to 7 in each (Maison & Ferme de Cassenac). These can be hired alongside the chateau or independently (as both have their own private gardens and pools). Whether you hire the chateau alone or along with the gites you are guaranteed your privacy as all the buildings are completely independent within the grounds.
The Chateau de Cassenac itself can sleep a maximum of 24 guests in 7 bedrooms (all with en suite bathrooms) and a large dormitory room. 2 gites within the grounds can sleep a further 7 guests in each. All 3 properties enjoy the luxury and privacy of their own gardens and private swimming pools.
On the ground floor the sizeable and fully equipped traditional French kitchen (2 dishwashers, freezer, fridge, microwave, electric oven, blender, electric cafetiere, kettle and toaster) comes with fireplace and laundry facilities. The spacious sitting room has a working fire place and a grand piano. Also on the ground floor is a large dining-room that leads out on to a terrace with views over the Dordogne, an office and a games room. A TV with DVD/VHS, home stereo, phone, fax machine and board games are available for rainy days. Daily room cleaning service, garden and pool maintenance, beach towels & bed linen are all included in the rental price.
On the first floor is the master bedroom with twin beds and en suite bathroom with Jacuzzi bath. There are 2 further twins and 3 doubles on this floor all with en suite bathrooms.
On the second floor are a triple bedroom with bathroom and the dormitory room (also with bathroom) that can accommodate up to 8 in single beds.
The chateau sits in 5 hectares of private grounds. The terrace offers 180° views over the Dordogne valley and can seat 24 for dinner. There is an outdoor living room for 8 people with tables and armchairs included. An additional outdoor living area is also available for 6 people (also including tables and armchairs). The swimming pool (10x5m) is heated and has magnificent views over the Dordogne Valley. The pool can be lit at night and includes 6 deckchairs, 4 armchairs, 2 benches, 2 tables and a changing-room. Volley-ball and badminton equipment is provided, and a swing for the children. There is also a croquet lawn and plenty of parking spaces in the courtyard. There is also a covered table tennis area.

The chateau is located only 45km from Bergerac (with Ryanair airport) and 150km from Bordeaux international airport. The nearest town for a supermarket, restaurants and shops is Buisson 5km away.
Day trips include guided visits by a renowned archaeologist of famous prehistoric sites such as Lascaux (30 km) and Les Eyzies. Visits to the medieval fortress town of Sarlat, forts and local communities. Local gardens, village markets and night-time produce markets.
Other activities available locally are canoeing, golfing, gliding, rambling, hot-air balloon and helicopter rides, local music and theatre festivals. Wine appreciation and tasting in Bergerac and Bordeaux. Other local towns of interest include Carcassonne, Rocamadour and Le Bassin d’Arcachon - all just a short drive away.
Périgueux (56 km): The Dordogne’s capital and relative of the local 'Perigord', the town has thirty nine buildings and monuments of historical interest. Vesunna, the Gallo-Roman museum, is certainly worth a look. As you wander along the lanes of Perigueux, built during the medieval-Renaissance era, you become humbled by the rich heritage (nearly 200 years) of the architecture.
Bergerac (44km): Situated between the Dordogne and the Pecharmant vineyards, Bergerac has Roman churches, half-timbered houses narrow lanes. More crucially, it affords visitors the chance to sample no less than 13 different types of Bergerac wine.
