Situated in its own peaceful parkland, this 15th century Chateau d'Ardilleux boasts five large en suite bedrooms, tennis court, indoor pool, a gym and table tennis. With a fully equipped American-style kitchen and attractively styled reception rooms, there is also a two-bedroom cottage which can be rented with the Chateau d'Ardilleux for groups of up to 17.
In the late 18th century the Chateau d'Ardilleux was the Fleury-Michon family’s country retreat. Over the war it was used as headquarters for the French resistance and a secret tunnel is rumoured to run from the house to nearby Chef Boutonne, over a mile away.
The Chateau d'Ardilleux itself comfortably accommodates up to 13 guests in its 5 en suite rooms and the nearby cottage can be rented when more space is needed for groups of up to 17.
On the ground floor is a large spacious living room with TV and original marble fireplace and light fixtures. The dining room is furnished with original marble fireplace and oak panelling. The sizeable American-style kitchen with dining table comes complete with double ovens, halogen hob, electric oven, eight ring gas hob, dishwasher and microwave. There is also a fully equipped sauna and gym.
On the first floor is a double with en suite bathroom, a double with shower room, a double with shower room and extra single bed and a family double room with additional 2 singles and spacious en-suite shower room. On the second floor is another double with en-suite shower room.
The cottage has a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a large reception room/kitchen and a separate bathroom
Surrounding the Chateau d'Ardilleux is an acre of parkland full of chestnut trees. There is a tennis court, a pool table, table tennis table, a gym and an indoor pool. Badminton, boules and cycles are all available for guest use. There is also abundant garden furniture and a gas-fired barbeque for al fresco dining. There is also ample parking for cars.

Take a trip to Green Venice in Marais Poitovon with its miles and miles of waterways. The valley of the monkeys (Vallee des Singes). Classic car racing at Angloueme. See Europe’s biggest silver mine at Melle. Abundant local fishing lakes. The famous twin towers at La Rochelle, quaint cobbled streets and great beaches.
There is a market every Saturday at the nearby Chef Boutonne and there are also two supermarkets, numerous patisseries, hotel Le Voyagers and a pizzeria (with takeaways!). Daily local markets. A nearby stables (5km) offers horse riding. Good golf courses can be found at Poitiers and Niort.
