Chateau de Falloye is situated in the stunning Dordogne region of France, near the village of Saussignac, in the hills south of Bergerac. Dating back to the 1400s, this beautifully renovated chateau is an ideal choice for groups of up to 12 people. Located on a 100 acre wine estate and benefitting from its own heated swimming pool, the Chateau de Falloye has recently been sympathetically restored, and comprises 5 beautiful en suite bedrooms, 2 of which have 4 poster beds. The chateau is located in the centre of a walled park with magnificent giant cedars and an ancient half-timbered pigeonnier and is immaculately furnished with impressive French antiques.
Guests have exclusive use of the chateau, the grounds and its facilities, including the swimming pool, and the park surrounds. On arrival, you will be greeted with aperitifs and a welcome hamper. Guests enjoy the privacy of their own chateau, but with the convenience of daily maid service, and linen and towels provided.
On entrance to Chateau de Falloye, one finds oneself in an impressive entrance hall with magnificent stone fireplace and wood burner. The sophisticated grand salon is next to the ‘petit’ salon, perfect for relaxing with a television, DVD player, books and games. Each has fantastic full patio doors that lead out onto the park. The ground floor dining room dates back to medieval times, and the open fireplace and seating for 10 make it an ideal room for eating all year round. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need, with a range cooker, dishwasher, small washing-machine and drier, microwave and large fridge-freezer. Doors open out from the spacious kitchen onto an outdoor eating area, with room for twelve to eat together. The chateau is extremely well equipped, with satellite TV and DVD player, a music centre, telephone, WIFI for the use of guests and a 10ft snooker table. There is also a great range of English books for your enjoyment.
On the first floor are the 5 bedrooms. Chambre de la Vallee and Chambre des Vignes are both twin rooms with en-suite shower. Chambre du Moulin is a large bedroom with king-size four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom. The Chapelle Suite is the largest bedroom in the chateau, with super-king size four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom. Chambre du Parc is another large double bedroom with king-size double bed and with en-suite bathroom. The Palier is a very large landing, with 10ft snooker table. Two additional foldaway beds are available for use for children in the double rooms.
The chateau is situated in a huge private walled park. On the grounds, and for the exclusive use of guests, are a heated 12mx6m swimming pool, table tennis facilities, gas BBQ, pentaque, bicycles for guests to borrow and a newly restored private chapel.

The nearest airport is Bergerac (15km) and the nearest towns are Saussignac (1km) and Gardonne (3km). Saussignac, the nearest small town, is only a short walk away, and guests will find a restaurant, post office, bread depot and tennis courts. Gardonne, where visitors will find a post office, bank, petrol, pharmacy, small supermarket, boulangerie and pizza restaurant, is a short drive away. Sainte Foy La Grande is slightly further, only 10 minutes by car, and the renowned historical town of Bergerac is 15 minutes away.
Activities available in the local area include go-karting, bowling, aqua parks, quad biking, horse riding, canoeing and wine tasting. For golf enthusiasts, an 18 hole golf-course is only 10 minutes away, with driving ranges 10 and 20 minutes away.
The world renowned Bergerac appellation wine area covers 12,700 hectares, and wine has been produced here for hundreds of years. Fifty seven per cent of the wine produced in the region is red, and Monbazillac and Saussugnac are known for their sweet dessert wines. Wine enthusiasts will find similar grapes to those found in the Bordeaux region: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec for the reds; Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, and Muscadet for the whites. Many vineyards welcome visitors, sell from the door, and offer tastings - look out for those on the Route des Vins.
For those who enjoy browsing the local French street markets and antique markets or ‘brocantes’, there are numerous options in the vicinity of Chateau de Falloye.
The nearby Dordogne River is ideal for fishing or canoeing. The Aqua Park at Bergerac is only 15 minutes away, as is ten pin bowling and trips up the river in a habarre. The Windsor night club is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and St Emillion, renowned for its wine, is only a short distance by car. Son et Lumiere is the re-enactment of the 100 Years War battle at Castillon, and is only a half hour drive.
