Eating Out: Eating out is the highlight of every enjoyable holiday. The standard of restaurants around Coral Bay and Paphos is superb, with an abundance of fresh and natural local produce including a vast range of fruit and vegetables, fresh meat, cheeses, traditional sausages and cured meats on offer. This will help you when you visit a local taverna. A dish that almost every visitor will try at least once is the famous ‘meze’, is a feast to share and, depending on the taverna, will consist of 20-25 different miniature dishes, including Houmous (Dip made from chick peas), Tzatziki (yoghurt, cucumber and mint dip) and Keftedes (meatballs). Fish is also a great with locals and tourists alike. Cyprus wines are among the world’s oldest and offer excellent variety. The locally produced house or village wine is always a good option. The national aperitif and favourite of holiday makers is ‘brandy sour’. This much loved drink is brandy combined with lime or lemon juice, angostura bitter and soda.
