Local activities in and around Denia, Costa Blanca - Alicante
The sleepy village of Murla is a 5 minute drive from the house and has a bakery for fresh bread each day, a small bar and a couple of shops and vegetable market (Mondays). The Jalon Valley is famous for its wine and Saturday rastro and offers a wealth of attractions including horse riding, walking, golf and scenic mountain walks and drives. There are a large number of restaurants to choose from in the surrounding villages of Orba, Alcalali and Parcent - all offering excellent value for money with 'menu del dia' from approx 8 Euros per head including bread and wine. The other villages of the Jalon Valley, Jalon, Alcalali,, Lliber and Orba can all be easily reached within 10 mins drive. They all have interesting characteristics combined with plenty of restaurants offering both Spanish & International cuisine, English bars, Spanish Tapas bars, bakeries & butchers, large Mas y Mas Supermarket, small English supermarkets, English Hairdressers and Beauty Salons, newsagents shops and several gift shops.
Other places of interest in the area are A 5* paragliding school in Parcent village and paragliding from the mountain (Coll de rates), only a 10 minute drive from the villa.
There is also the Donkey sanctuary in the mountains toward Bernia where one can offer support for the project by indulging in an incredible lunchtime feast with amazing views where all profits go towards the well being of the donkeys and of course the famous mountain spring and walks on the Serra Bernia, only 15 minutes drive away. Around 50 minutes drive away are the famous theme parks of Benidorm, including Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, and Aqualandia Water Park & Wild Life Park. Historic Guadalest and the famous water pools and waterfalls are just 30 mins drive away. The area around the villa is particularly good for walkers/hikers, cycling, bird watching and sight seeing. In addition to the paragliding there is also Quad Biking, Go Karting and an Outdoor Pursuits Centre.
